"I will be switching insurance companies because I am extremely unsatisfied with how Horace Mann conducted business after my car was at a total loss due to being hit while stationary at a light. I had to actively seek out information with every person I worked with. Not one person reached out to me without me contacting them first to leave phone messages. I had to leave many messages because employees hardly ever answered phone calls. Employees were either out of the office, not answering the phone, or some lines were even disconnected. It was extremely difficult to get answers and get my claim settled. One employee in particular, J. Brown (my first claim representative), refused to even give me information as to where my totaled car was being taken to from the original impound lot. She called demanding that I give her the authorization to have it moved to a company lot, but would not tell me where it was going to. I asked many times where it was going and her only response was that she needed my authorization to have the car moved so that the claim could be settled quickly. As a result, I went days without knowing where my car was located because I couldn't get ahold of anyone to receive answers. The single employee who was genuinely helpful in this case was C. Kneppler. However, it has been almost exactly a month today and I still haven't received my settlement check. My overall thoughts about this company is that it is disorganized and vastly unhelpful. A good metaphor for this company is Home Depot, where they have everything needed to fix something, but you still have to do all of the work. This isn't even the best metaphor because Home Depot is known for their customer service, and clearly, Horace Man is not."
