Reviews of M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank
"By far, the best hospital I've ever gone to!!! I have chronic pain and have dealt with so much medical gaslighting with my symptoms to where in the past I have felt no different than when I walked in. I honestly dreaded going to hospitals cause in the past it was a wasted trip. I never felt heard. I can honestly say AT HOSPITAL, you can tell the staff and the doctors have empathy and do everything they can to provide the best possible care. I will NEVER EVER go to any other hospital. Tonight, I came in with a level 10 pain in tears, having done everything possible at home, and I left in like a level 3. I told my nurse and my doctor tonight just how much I truly appreciate them and how it truly is a LIFE changing experience for me tonight. Just mind blown"
"I would stay away from this hospital. First of all I should know, I was staff there 10 west ICU. I was attacked and bitten by a patient because proper safety and staffing wasn’t in place. I was injured proven by MRI and xray. I now have tremors how am I supposed to work with nerve damage. Out since April still haven’t been back to work. I sued and received a really low ball settlement because they were cheap, manipulative, and treated me like garbage. I was the victim and they tried with their lawyers and drs to do everything to discredit, bully, and take no responsibility. They went back to my drs records from yrs ago to try to find a preexisting condition. Then their attorney asked me who my dr was 30 yrs ago. Why didn’t they go back 60 yrs to my pediatrician. I honestly hope more nurses are attacked just like shootings and still no one listens. It was a disgrace. I wanted to go to trial but I was coerced into accepting the settlement. Of course the big corporation wants to squash the little guy. But the CEO can collect 3 million a yr. I worked in California and the union was way better then Minnesota. The other nurses were back stabbers bragging about taking adderall, one even tried to give me edibles. The strung out adderall nurse was crocheting half the night, the charge nurse handed her charge phone to a staff RN while she went to have a cigarette while my patient was having a stroke. Conversations at the nursing station were loud and inappropriate. The male nurses were great the females were the problem. Caty, bullying, inappropriate, and quick to write you up know it alls. I was told by a black nurse they were also racist. Either way very toxic environment if they can’t get their house in order how do you think that affects patient treatment. In fact the patient who attacked me was extubated too quickly and still had underlying pneumonia that was missed. No dr or NP probably took any responsibility for that. Patient almost had to be reintubated. I suffered with her and got injured to prevent that, this hospital is so disorganized when it comes to bedside intubation, it’s scary. Thank god I feel I can say what I want. I’m at the end of my career. The medical industry is a mess and corporatizing made it worse. I would love to do a blog about what goes on behind the scenes. Next job I get I’m in it just for the paycheck until the medical industry starts treating their nurses properly. Nurses are the backbone of healthcare not the drs. Minnesota is not the place to work whether staff or traveler. I highly recommend not going there to help out. Just look one of my reviews had 5000 people look at it. That’s why they have to offer bonuses and incentives just to get nurses to work there. Go to Allina there probably not great either but better then U of M Fairview about to be taken over by a subpar hospital called Sanford. Don’t listen to their BS treatment will go downhill not up. It’s all about the shareholders and executives. Now I found out the mgrs are spying through security cameras on the workers while at home. There is no low they won’t stoop to so shady. I’m not surprised the whole staff was shady nobody trusted anyone a bunch of rats. How can you get good healthcare when I’m telling you what’s going on from behind the scenes. Like in the kitchen of a restaurant. And nurses are not nice they talk about all the patients behind their backs at the nurses station. I traveled for 8 yrs there all the same but this one was particularly worse."
"There was an adolescent treatment program in the early 90's and being a patient there, a staff ask me if I needed a girlfriend I said no and I was an under aged client at the time but she offered sexual services and I do hope she loses her nursing license, please the adolescent program should screen their staff properly."
"Terrible service in a shiny paint job. Parking is expensive and awful. I've had to go several times for a surgery and have not met a single pleasant person. My nurse had a known racist insignia tattoo on her hand. Like get out of here. You can find her now, she's still there. Working with black people under sedation. Super cool."
"My dad had a surgery appointment at this location last Wednesday. It was a very good experience. Before entering you will have to provide information and take a photo to have a sticker as a permittion to go inside the hospital. They also have an area to leave the delivery order at the door if you order sth outside. I think this is a way for the hospital to control and protect the safety of their staffs and patients. From the front desk staffs to the medical team all very nice, polite, patient, friendly and knowledgeable. They care very well for the patient and the patient's family. While I waited for my dad's surgery in the lounge, the staff would regularly come in with updates from the medical team or ask if I needed anything. They have computers, desks for eating or working, charging cords, tea, coffee machine and even pen and paper for coloring or entertainment. I think they also have pillow and blanket if needed. There is also a canteen right downstairs to buy food or other drinks. After being transfered to the recovery room, the patient will be given a list of TV channels and menus. Food for patients is also diverse and easy to eat. The care team will also regularly visit and check or the patient can press the care team call button when needed. When you ready to get home, they also have a staff to transfer you from the room to the car as needed."
