"I’ve been living here for the last two months, love it! New to Minnesota, the area is vibrant and recent further improvements in the neighborhood have made it even better! The city takes pride in “eat street” with the festive lights on all the trees that line the street! As a single guy this is perfect for anyone seeking a ton of restaurants or bars to walk to. The building itself is great, it’s new, modern and kept very clean. Very secure with double locked main access doors (overnight) locked off access to all the stairwells and parking for added security. Units are small but very functional, perfect for one or a couple. Definitely not for families though. Grocery store on ground floor owned by the developers. Amazing. Value is also great, it feels urban with a neighborhood feel. Shoutout to Alexis who made my leasing process seamless."
"Good Dwelling resident for 2 years: First day, the suite had dirty appliances, counters, and floors. I spent the first 2 weeks cleaning the filth that was left here. The place looks great after you clean up, but there are hidden problems under all of this. Poor air conditioning / HVAC: Good Dwelling has bad air conditioning and heating, the unit leaks water due to clogged drain pipes, the heating never worked during the winter, and the unit is letting exterior temperatures come in. You have to obtain a heat / cold tolerance to live here. I had to buy my own AC because the built-in systems weren't working. I also had to buy insulation and window wrap to prevent cold air from coming in. -30C+ during the winter and 35C+ during the summer. Improper insulation. You're losing comfortable temperature quickly from the seasonal changes. You pay a lot for air conditioning because of this. The balcony has an unsecured and loose sliding door, you'd get rain water in the apartment from this. This can cause mold and dirt buildup. I had to fix the sliding door myself, which took a few screws. More on that later. Poor water heating. The water for the shower, sinks and toilets aren't very good because they aren't providing any heat or cold water, you're left with lukewarm or slightly cold. The water pressure is extremely low, you can't get a proper shower going. The ice cream, beer, and coffee shop. I've never got an opportunity to get ice cream because they were always locked. The beer is warm and nasty, you can go down the street for a drink. The coffee machine was alright, but I found a piece of mold or debris in my coffee, never made one again. You can get coffee next door. Management team is questionable. I've gotten my packages stolen, my car got a hit and run incident in the garage, and the maintenance guy doesn't have proper funding for tools. I've tried to get support from management. Not once did they try to reach back and give me any help on my police reports. The team doesn't seem to be attentive to anything that happens outside of their little office, unless it gets reported. But then again, they don't really care enough to look into the matters. Rent went up by $100 on the second lease, why? The problems still exist and there's other apartments that offer better deals for better living conditions, so why is my rent going up without any explanation on the contract? I've accepted the second lease because I enjoy the distance from the stores, but I'm not risking my own health and wallet just to be a few miles closer to the shops. I hope that I keep my security deposit when I leave here, just because I am leaving this place better than before. I cleaned the place and made more bearable for harsh weather. There should be no reason why I would have to lose my security deposit."
"I am a current resident. I went three weeks with no heat in my apartment during a winter storm of negative 50 degree weather. The communication has been terrible. They have not offered and reciprocation. Finally after 3 weeks, as of today, they fixed my heat but now my hot water does not work and the “after hours emergency maintenance” line is not effective. It’s just a number to the landlord cell phone which won’t do anything. I’ve had to fix my own clogged drains, dying fire alarms and all other service requests in my apartment. Mind you with amenities I pay close to $1800 a month. When I originally moved in, I was thinking Ethan was going to be the landlord (here was friendly and helpful) but quit unexpectedly. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE."
"Was a resident here for a year and absolutely loved it… until now. Ethan, the manager at the time, was great and I really enjoyed my unit. After living elsewhere for a year, I decided to sign another lease at Good Dwelling. Unfortunately, management has changed and have been nearly impossible to get in touch with, and the few interactions I have had with them have been unprofessional and frankly upsetting. Talking with Kurt and Martha feels like I am talking with a teenager working a summer job they hate. I filled out my application, paid the $65 fee, and am a qualified renter. After not hearing from anyone for over a week, I finally called and was told I would not be allowed back due to a few things left behind upon move out (never got deposit back and even offered to pay for removal of one of the larger items, but was assured it was ok) I would have absolutely worked to fix the situation if it was expressed to me that this was an issue. Interesting that was something that prevented me from moving back to Good Dwelling, but had no effect on the acceptance into my current lease at a “luxury” apartment. Perhaps I dodged a bullet on this? Either way, never got my application fee back. In a nutshell, management is churlish and the amenities promised are non-existent. From a former resident, I would NOT recommend this place. I have never written a review online, and hate to be a Karen, but was frustrated enough that I felt the need to let others know- Renters beware!"
"Good Dwelling has been a phenomenal place for my son to live. Ethan was fantastic to work with and helped us get into a unit on very short notice. The building is in a great location. The units are beautiful and the building as a whole is thoughtfully designed to maximize the comfort of the tenants. We are delighted that my son was able to rent an apartment here! What a stellar find this was!!!"
