"Just thought I would let people know how they treat other professionals. I currently work in a LTC facility. Almost EVERY time they come here they treat us like we are stupid!!! They are rude and condescending and act like they are above the nursing staff!!! I have been a nurse for a very long time and have worked in many fields of nursing. I've done ICU, acute care, LTC, PCU, hospice, home health, psych, and many more. I enjoy geriatrics. That does not make me a stupid nurse! We do A LOT!!! The fact that they strut into these facilities and act like they are the only ones that knows anything grates my nerves! They have NO CLUE about our residents and how they are normally so if we say they have altered mental status then we know what we are talking about! We provide daily for 20 to 30 at a time and it is not easy. We love our residents and do what we can to make their lives good for what they are having to deal with. The last time I checked we were all in the health care field together and should be a team. We should work together and build each other up! There is a running joke with us nurses that say EMS workers are taught to be that way. And we've had very pleasant EMS workers that tell us EMS has a joke that nurses in LTC don't have a clue. Do better! Shame on you for acting that way! Ok I'm off the soap box!"
