University Apartments

"I would not recommend this set of apartments. Trying to be as unbiased as possible, these apartments should be considered a last resort. Many of the other Sweetser properties seem to be a step up from this residence so if you can afford it I would suggest that instead. 1. The upkeep on the property is not great by any means. I'm not sure if this is because this location is a good distance from the office and they are unaware on how poor conditions have become. There is a lot of trash and debris that can regularly be found around these apartments. The beams and the woodwork appear to be rotten or eroding. The pet owners who live here allow their animals to relieve themselves anywhere on the property so at any given time you may find piles of animal waste in the parking lot. 2. As far as I know, there is only one laundry room on the property, and it is communal. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers to be shared throughout the property. To put this into perspective, there are roughly 12 apartments on each side of a building, and 2 building within the complex. That's 48 apartments in total, all of which may not be occupied but each apartment may have more than one tenant. The washers/dryers are not always working, additionally, there are times where clothes are left in them for an extended amount of time. The dryers though outdated are decent, but the washers are not only small but they only allow for very small loads. When washing, you may have a bit of a struggle to get the washer to fill as much as halfway. There have been times when I have washed small loads of clothes only to find the clothing on top to be completely dry after the wash cycle. Also, the temperature adjustments don't work. The most you can expect is warm water; not sure if hot water is even possible. Also, the upkeep of the washroom is left up to the residents so the washroom looks terrible. 3. The property is not well lit at all. 4. I may be incorrect, but I was of the impression that these apartments were smoke-free. They are not. This isn't so much a complaint, just a heads up. I made this assumption because I see people regularly smoking outside, away from the apartments which I truly appreciate, but I assume residents should not be smoking within the apartments because there are people known to smoke in their bathrooms and simply turn on the vents, I guess hoping to get rid of the smoky smell. Usually this would not bother me but when they do this the smoke then goes into other apartments via the vents, so if you have asthma, respiratory issues, or maybe you simply don't want lung cancer, this may not be the place for you. 5. Because the apartments are next to the high school depending on when you leave in the mornings and when you get back, you may have an issue with parking. Good luck. 6. The maintenance guys are really helpful and are really like but the work can at times be a bit shoddy. When repainting I would suggest personally covering your own belongings or removing valuables. You may return to your apartment to find paint on appliances, and even on the carpeting. The same amount of care is taken when repairing anything around the apartment. Things may get scratched up, nailed up, drilled through all in the attempt to repair it, so just keep that in mind. That's about it. Good luck apartment hunting! :)"
