"My daughter and I are so disappointed. I signed my daughter up for the Child and Babysitting Course Summer Session 1. The course was scheduled for Saturday, June 24th 9am-12:30pm at the Sonoran Desert Room in Avondale City Hall. We arrived at 8:50am excited and left at 9:20am very disappointed to find that they canceled the class without sending an email, making a phone call or crediting my payment method. Lucky for us, there was an event being set up at the Avondale Visitor and Conference Center where there were 2 very pleasant Avondale City employees that were able to make some phone calls to confirm what we feared to be true. I am grateful they were there to assist us."
"The Avondale Civic & visitor center is beautiful and well thought out. Lots of trees, artwork and areas of interest. A great place for a relaxing walk on the weekend when many of the business buildings are closed and there is usually a quiet atmosphere to enjoy nature and the outdoors."
"Kids had a blast playing in the , "snow" train, painting and rock wall and local performers. Being as it was our first time, loved how it wasn't overly crowded as Glendale Glitters would be."
"Nice amphitheater area. Open grounds."
"Too bad I can not put Zero stars. I tried to do a small get together today and got denied because I did not have "correct" paperwork. Although we had a bounce house they were well aware of it when I directly went in to do the application. When I called and spoke to 2 different ladies there and told them how soon the event was they told me everything was fine and ready for us to be able to set up today. Then we get to the park and their so called "Supervisor" Angelo stood there arguing with us and told us we had to put away the bounce house because it was not accepted. I told him about being told yes by 2 ladies from his department and basically what he told me was "well I would have to ask them because at this point you are just saying they said that" basically calling me a liar. And still had the nerve to tell us to reschedule our get together. Also he told us to call his supervisor and as he gave me their office number he called her personal phone and walked away. I asked if I could speak to her and he went directly to "No I'm not giving you her personal number". He was very rude especially considering I did everything correctly and was misinformed by 2 people from parks and rec as well. He had no compassion for our situation. The fields were empty and I asked if it would be okay considering no one was there. And he just said "no" also when we told him that was our reason for our get together he said "well you didn't pay for a shelter and you guys got one so you should be happy" although we were informed that the shelters were first come first serve as long as there was no reservation paperwork on it. This was a horrible experience amd honestly ruined our plans. I am very unhappy with our experience."
