"I’ve had two interactions with Doggie District that demonstrate misconduct, neglect, and dishonesty. My dog has come home with injuries, twice. Both times I received no explanation from management, despite asking for a phone call. Both injuries are concerning because they demonstrated either neglect or improper use of safety gear. The first was a tail fracture, diagnosed by a vet after finding an obvious new injury that was sustained at daycare. We found a new daycare after this, but had to return to Doggie District for boarding when in a bind. This is when the second injury occurred, and it was sustained from what I assume was the improper use of a muzzle. This daycare has a strict no muzzle policy. I brought my dog in for daycare after a veterinary appointment, where she wears a muzzle to prevent aggression with other dogs, but never with humans. This was never asked of me. She was scheduled to be isolated from dogs while boarding. My dog was overdue for a behavioral evaluation at Doggie District, but they failed to ask me to complete one before accepting her for boarding. I dropped my dog off for boarding with a muzzle on. I offered to take the muzzle off, but they said they’d do it. When I picked my dog up, there were abrasions and lacerations on her nose with active bleeding. The injury matches her muzzle perfectly, and her muzzle has significant wear and tear that is new. This has never occurred when wearing the muzzle for the recommended amount of time, or even when pushing it to 6 consecutive hours of use. My assumption is that, instead of declining to board her, asking about her behavior/muzzle, or requesting to use the muzzle for extended periods of time, they just left the muzzle on. I’m making an assumption because I still have not received a phone call or explanation. To add to their misconduct, they offered assumptions before giving inappropriate veterinary advice. My dog was not wearing the muzzle during pick up, but her lesions were fresh and bleeding. When asked, they said they took the muzzle off right away. They blamed my dog’s wounds on her rubbing her face on something. They recommended I put antibiotics on the wound to help it heal. They weren’t sure about this, though. So they would check the cameras and call me. As I said, that never happened. These two occurrences demonstrate negligence, disregard for safety protocols, inappropriate veterinary advice, and poor communication. UPDATE: I received a call once my review was found. Mostly, the conversation consisted of me enduring the heated outbursts of an angry manager. I endured demands for evidence of my dogs injuries, contradicting stories from different managers, and corrections to my medical terminology (of a licensed general practitioner - their corrections were plainly wrong and an obvious diversion from accountability). When I expressed complaints beyond my dogs injuries, I heard false claims about failed attempts to reach me, justification for inappropriate veterinary advice, absolution of blame for my dog’s first injury due to recent staffing changes… the list goes on. At one point they even interrupted me to accuse me of wanting compensation. Finally, after making it clear that my only incentive was to avoid future incidents with other dogs, did they offer to let me see footage to prove the muzzle wasn’t left on. To see it, though, I would have to schedule a visit at the facility. This may have been honest, but their mishandling and poor communication have drained me of my incentive to investigate this further. My dog came home with two injuries on two separate occasions. They lack professionalism and don’t communicate. I won’t be returning."
"Updating my review since my dogs have been going here for daycare and boarding for over a year now. Hands down would recommend to anyone. They’re amazing and take such great care of my girls. They love going to daycare!!"
"My pup hasn’t boarded with them yet, but I found them in a pinch when I thought I needed emergency boarding to be able to travel for work. I called and they were super nice, suggested I bring my dog in for an orientation and evaluation and gave me rates and availability. I ended up not needing them but took my sweet boy in so he’d be registered and ready when I needed him to be able to board there and they were great. He hung out and played a few hours and they sent me a report card and photos from his visit. Super impressed by the staff, the organized manner in which they run, and the facility. Seems great and I will absolutely use them to care for my baby in the future!"
"Sadly will be looking for a new day care/groomer. Used to bring my previous Australian Shepherd here for grooming until he passed. They always did an amazing job. Got a new Australian Shepherd puppy and thought I would bring him to day care to get some socialization with other dogs. My mistake. Back to back times of bringing him here they have not bathed him despite having it booked and confirmed. The first time they forgot, apologized and said they would note it to make sure it did not happen again. Guess what? Happened again, blah blah blah short staffed. If this were the case they should have contacted those with scheduled services to advise and see if they still wanted to have doggie day care or re-schedule when the groomer would be available, nope. Now to add insult to injury. My puppy was only going to be there for a half day and then bathed. When my wife picked up a now very smelly puppy was charged for a full day. When she questioned the charge was told because he was there more than 5 hours. He was there more than 5 hours because he was supposed to be getting bathed. Did they refund the $10 for the overcharge? Nope, gave it as a credit. Pretty much stole the $10 because I have no intention of coming back for a third disappointment. The person was nice enough (cough cough sarcasm) to remind my wife we could not bring our puppy in once he is six months unless he has been neutered. Not exactly a brilliant move after overcharging us and failing for a second time to bathe my puppy, great job (cough cough sarcasm). Might want to do some staff customer service training. Maybe some math training as well since he isn't even 5 months yet. Hopefully the owners are paying attention before too many negative reviews start to impact their business. ***Update*** Since the owner responded to the review, I thought I would update the review. Rather than asking the customer to call and ask for the manager perhaps a better option is to have the person responding to the review contact the manager and have them call the customer. I have no interest in wasting anymore of my time and effort. Have located a new business and am moving on."
"We spent a month in Mesa and took our rottweiler, Seamus, to Doggie District on several occasions when we couldn't take him out with us. He absolutely loved it there. The staff is outstanding. Seamus was so excited and would rush inside every time we took him."
