"Homesite sells mechanical breakdown riders, which in my mind your AC stops working they fix or repair the unit. What they say it means is it is bulging insurance which they couldn't explain what that actually meant and doesn't cover much! Don't buy homesite or their riders. In my case, the rider was sold as A home warranty replacement. False advertisement!!!"
"For the love of God, don't use the insurance you pay for because they won't be able to cover you anymore! Insurance in this country is a joke! As long as you're giving them money every month it's fine but as soon as you need to use the insurance for what it's for then they no longer want to cover you. Biggest scam ever! Homesite sucks!!"
"Ive left this company 2x. I originally used Homesite for renters insurance, when I bought my home I also used them. Well after the 1st year my payment went up almost $200, and when my mortgage company transferred the payment it “was not received”. If I remember correctly it was misposted by the company. Anywho my policy was canceled for non payment, and it took me a hot minute to get the payment found and returned to my escrow account. Fine, I switched over to Costco, cheaper and better coverage. Well Costco at the end of the year sold me back to homesite. My mortgage found out before me, wired payment on 10/4, the payment was due on 10/5. Homesite again canceled the policy for non payment. At least they didn’t lose the payment this time. I didn’t want to use them again either, as once again it was $200 more than what I was paying. I’m currently waiting for the refund check, which i was told would arrive the first end of October/ first week of November."
"Homesite is 100% a scam. I would give zero stars if it was an option. I filed a claim in July 2023, it’s now the end of October. All supplements and photos submitted in a timely manner by contractor, no response. Customer service is nonexistent. Would you like to contact your insurance agent by phone? It’s not gonna happen, they won’t pick up. Want to send them an email? Yes fine, you can send them all the emails you want won’t reply I’ve been massively underpaid for the damage caused to my roof my Mother Nature. Run far and fast from this “insurance company”. They will leave you hanging out high and dry. Give them hundreds of your hard earned dollars each month, only to be screwed by this institution. If you have a policy with them cancel immediately and go with literally anyone else. Homesite doesn’t want to insure you they just want your money."
"I can't express how frustrated and disappointed I am with the service provided by Homesite (aka - American Family Ins). They don't even deserve a 1 star!! It's like pulling teeth to get any response from this company. I have made many attempts to get clarification on a recent claim. When calling, I'm met with extended wait times on the phone, and emails seem to vanish into thin air. Their communication is abysmal, to say the least. Dealing with their customer service representatives is a headache. They often seem disinterested, unhelpful, and uninformed. It's evident that they lack proper training and don't understand the products they're supposed to be supporting. I would strongly advise anyone considering insurance options to steer clear of Homesite (aka - American Family Ins). The frustration and stress I've experienced dealing with them is not worth the money saved. It's clear that they prioritize profit over customer satisfaction and service quality."
