Reviews of Sunrise Preschools
"I loved this school until a few weeks ago. I payed $50 for my daughter to attend. That's fine. But was told another $50 for for her brother to attend. But prior to this was told for both of them 75 so they wanted to scam me out of $25. Then 2 weeks ago they had me sign a document slamming des saying their pay is inconsistent and not enough for the workers. If my child is more than 5 days ill or daycare is closed for the holidays I'm required to pay $53 or $75 for my kids to attend each time. Then yesterday told my friend that they wanted to charge me $15 a week due to her just turning 3 a few days ago and not being potty trained. The staff rarely ever potty trained my daughter in the 4 months she was there. My son was only on a drop off basis as he attends school. The daycare facility is too far to transport. He would only attend during breaking and summer time. My daughter is constantly sick and the staff has no regard to their ill kids. She's in the hospital more than in daycare. The daycare manager would always call and say they believe she had pink eye. But turned out to be nothing because she had watery eyes naturally. 1 time there was a kid there with pink eye wasn't told about it until a week later and no notice when it happened. Overall they already get about $800-$900 from des per kid I bring to them on a full time scale. I went from $0 Co fee a month to $200 to $300 a month due to holiday pay, illnesses, and weekly co fees. Not to mention their card machine charges $2.50 per transaction. I'm very disappointed in the manager. Teachers were amazing tho. And I would drive 5.2 miles 1 way. For 5 days that would be 52 miles a week if she wasn't sick. Signed by a single mother who quit her job to take care of her disabled child and no income or help to keep her kids in child care due to such an increase."
"Please Read All: My son attended this daycare from Feb 2020 to Sep 2020. He was 12 months - 18 months. He had approximately 14 accident reports (that I kept record of, there was probably a handful more that I just didn't keep). 7 accident reports being bite marks. There were more than one incident where can came home with a bite mark that lasted for more than 3 days. The other incidents included a lot of head bumps and he came home with a cut upper lip once. The reason I changed daycares is because his last incident included 2 bite marks, one on his cheek that bruised and lasted for over a week and a half and the other on his arm. I felt like the teachers couldn't have been paying too much attention if my child got bitten so bad on his face that it bruised. I addressed the biting multiple times with management and I was basically told "it happens in his age group". I just don't find this amount of biting acceptable. The first time he got bit they didn't even know about it. I got home that day and found it on his chest during bath time. How a child bit his chest baffles me as it was well under his shirt. The other reason why I ended up leaving is because he would constantly come home with horrible diaper rashes. To the point where it had blistering. When I asked about it, the teachers said they didn't know why he was getting such a bad rash and told me to apply powder, give tea baths, etc. I picked him up during nap time (earlier than I usually pick up) a few times and each time he had a full poopy diaper. They let him sleep in a poopy diaper. I could tell because the poop was crusted and stuck to his butt. Then they claimed he must be pooping while sleeping. He has never done that before in my care (I was a stay a home mom with him for a year). He always poops after eating. So obviously they weren't changing him frequently enough and that's why his rashes became so horrid. There were also incidents where I would pick him up and his diaper would be so tight it left red marks on his stomach. The little latches would be overlapping each other, which shouldn't ever be done. The diapers were his size, it was completely unnecessary and he would be fussing until we got home and I could re-adjust it. I addressed each and everyone of these concerns with director Tanya or one of the girls who I'd drop him off with. She was always quick to address the concern and speak with the teachers. It would be fixed for a week or two and then start happening again. I had to constantly complain and I got tired of it. I'm honestly sad to write this review because Tanya was a great director and very sweet to me. That's the only reason I'm leaving a two star review, otherwise I would be 1 star. I think they need to upgrade on teachers and maybe training, then this would be a better place."
"I've gone back and forth on writing this however I feel I need to warn people. I worked here May of 2018 to September of 2019, and I will never work here again. Tonya was beyond a nightmare to work for. I had a son with a heart condition and development delay, both of which she was goven notice of BEFORE I started working there. This became an issue when I noticed my son having a symptom that I was told to look out for BY HIS CARDIOLOGIST. When I had informed Tonya that his cardiologist wanted to see him immediately, she had the absolute nerve to tell me that he needed to be on breathing treatments... She then had an issue that the only time my son could see a Developmental Special Instructor on fridays because I did not have a ride home or to work any other time. She also asked for my sons progress notes, which is ILLEGAL, simply because another staff member had lied about me and said he was no longer seeing his insturctor! And she lied because she was angry she had to stay a little bit later, even though 2 of the teachers that opened for the daycare at 6:30am would not be able to leave until 4:30-5pm. I had gotten an overcharge on my tuition within 2 months of starting, and I brought it to corporates attention. Olivia had to come to the center, sat down to talk with me about it. They had decided to give me a free scholarship. I now realized it was to keep me quiet. After our talk Olivia had said that Tonya had no idea about our conversation. Olivia left directly after said conversation, I had walked her to the door, and then Tonya asks me if the tuition issue was taken care of. I was in the 3's and I along with several other teachers, were almost always over ratio and she would tell us to deal with it. I had about 4 different kids with behavioral issues that endangered the other kids in my class, yet she refused to removed them. And BOTH regional managers seemed to be directly under her thumb, though Janet not nearly as much as Olivia. I say this because there are/were pictures of Tonya on vacation with Olivia (which I believe is highly inappropriate) on Facebook. There's so much more but I know a lot of parents that pulled their kids after I and a few other teachers left, and several other teachers that left BECAUSE of Tonya."
"Honestly, this center is such a disappointment. Ignoring doctors notes, mixing age groups- told me to not potty train my 2 year old until they had enough staff to be consistent, since he'd be in the 1s room with no bathroom. The director allows non-staff members to 'help'.. in rooms and going through confidential documents. The director bullies staff, parents and kids. The district manager ignores it all. Tonya does such a disservice to this center. Glad my kids are out of there."
