"I just moved here from Orange County. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. Everyone was patient and I love the new community it’s beautiful and a very luxurious area. Glad I made the move."
"I toured this apartment complex and was very impressed. The staff was extremely friendly and took the time to answer all of my questions. The complex is beautiful. The pool looks amazing. This is at the top of my list to put in an application."
"Was considering renting here, but their lack of communication, coupled with zero transparency on pricing turned me off. Not to mention the smug attitude of the gentleman at the front desk. My lease was coming to an end recently, and I was shopping for places closer to my work. A friend of mine told me that DC Heights had 1 bedrooms for $1540/mo and it’s 1-2 blocks from my work. I thought that sounded great! I had a few other options lined up for housing, but this seemed promising, so why not at least apply since Paige told me that my application fee and admin fee of $250 would be refunded. I went in and spoke with Paige about my interest in a 1 bedroom for $1540/mo. She was excited to show me around the building, and showed me a few units she had available (on the third and 4th floor). She did mention that 4th floor units had a $75 premium for being on the top floor. Also mentioned that a parking space would be an additional $25/mo as well as pet rent for $35/mo. This all sounded great to me. I applied and was approved. I let my other options for housing know that I was going to be living at DC Heights. I went in to select exactly which unit I’d like, this time we were escorted by Jessie. He showed us units on the third and fourth floor, and mentioned fourth floor had a $75 premium added on. Cool, no problem. Fast forward about a week, I come in to sign my lease and take possession of the apartment. Literal bait and switch. The lease they had written up had me at over $1850/mo. All in, this apartment was supposed to be a little over $1700/mo. When I asked why the price changed, Jessie told me that the pricing goes up about $100 for the 3rd floor (which wasn’t the case…my friend showed me his lease and he’s living on the 3rd floor. $1540/mo.) and another $100 + $75 for the 4th floor. I asked why nobody had shared any of this with me during our past week or two of shopping the units, and he simply replied “Sorry”, and “our pricing can change at any moment”. Seriously? Tour the unit, select the unit, change the price right before signing the lease?! This is laughable. I wasn’t going to leave a review, and instead contacted their parent company, but to no avail. So here we are. Scummy business practices deserve honest reviews. I ended up having a fantastic experience with Summit @ San Marcos right around the corner, and highly recommend them to anyone shopping. Great build quality and more sq ft for the price. Not to mention a courteous and professional staff!"
"Love the new DC Heights complex! My two bedroom apartment is great; a good size and modern. I love that there is plenty of cabinet space as well! The entire complex is very nice and clean. There is a nice little gym on 4th floor with everything you need for a workout, a large mailroom, an awesome pool and jacuzzi, and a nice open-air spot on 3rd floor with seating. It also doesn’t hurt that you can walk outside and choose whatever bar, restaurant, coffee shop you want to take the very short walk to! Valet trash pick-up is nice and if you miss it there are trash drops on each floor. The parking garage gate auto opens from detecting the parking sticker, which makes entry super easy! I also love the access control ability from your cell phone if you need to let a guest or delivery person in. The staff is absolutely awesome, friendly and very responsive. Been here two months already and have loved it!"
"Not a bad complex with a decent pool area and decent units. The MAJOR problem, however, is they’ve been open months now and there are still a ton of issues with nothing seemingly being done. For example, the access box at the main entrance has never worked; no reserved parking for guests or residents around the building so evenings and weekends it is packed with vehicles from people going out downtown…in addition, the parking garage within the complex has a exit door gate for foot traffic….that has been chained and locked so can’t be used; Amazon (food, FedEx, any delivery) has no way to get inside the building outside of leasing office hours which is a huge problem so if you are home expect to have to walk down to the main entrance if they can call you, if you’re not home expect your deliveries to be delayed; the fob readers everywhere are SLOW; the small exercise room still has nothing in it other than three bicycles; fob access placed on exterior doors has still has not been done so you have to use either the main entrance or through the garage…this includes the mail room exterior door….I could go on but I think my point is made. Make sure you ask questions and verify charges before signing the lease. They charge an additional monthly parking fee ($25) per vehicle (what?!?) Amenities cost about another $50 a month…yep $50…these costs are not included in the rent price. Trash pickup is not optional and $15 a month, however, that is standard for most places. They also assess taxes on all additional charges…so your monthly amenities, parking fee etc, all have “tax assessed” lines on everything!"
