"Rooms are average, maintainable always takes forever to fix something. Duncan at the front desk takes his job wayyyy too seriously. He wouldn’t let my sister into the complex without me physically walking her in and holder her hand. And that’s just in the complex not even into the dorm."
"Vista del Sol is incredibly overpriced, there was construction for 4 months straight every single morning, and the staff is rude and unhelpful. No surprise that its run by American Campus Communities, a company whose entire business model revolves around fleecing as much money as possible from students."
"Apartment living is a step up from the dorms and the complex amenities are nice to have access to but that's about all I can say are the benefits of this complex. ACC and ASU team up to offer sub par housing to their upperclassmen honors students which includes fire alarms going off often and basic utilities such as power and water getting shut off frequently for one reason or another. With all the water problems the building suffers I suppose it's a good thing the fire suppression sprinklers were removed and capped off otherwise who knows the damages that could be sustained. It's a good thing this housing is affordable... Oh wait, it's not. Wouldn't recommend considering this overpriced scam."
"EDIT REGARDING OWNER RESPONSE: If you have "systems in place" to make sure that rooms are move in ready then why weren't they? I've tried reaching out to staff in the past and they responded to me slowly and then not at all. Got fined for something I marked down upon move in. Moved into a new place and most of the appliances are broken, so I’m not sure what we’re even paying these fines for. You might notice an uptick of good reviews around Spring of 2018. That’s because they sent out an email saying if you left a review you and showed them you would get a Canes gift card. Not sure about the legality of that."
"Vista Del Sol is a great place to live while in college if you consider the other "dorm" options and perks of being as close to campus for a somewhat off campus experience. It definitely is pricey compared to what other places go for, Vista ranges from about 6500$ to about 9500$ over the academic year. Although if you plan to stay here several semesters, the summer fee is waved and you can live for free in the units over the summer. Overall you have all the amenities you need for a living space. Full kitchen, sometimes a balcony, private or shared room with a twin or full sized bed, your OWN BATHROOM (only private rooms), a 24 hour gym, and an awesome pool, hot tube, basketball court and volleyball court. There is also some open grassy areas for pets to roam around and play in. If you are a Barrett student, I HIGHLY suggest you live here during at least one, hopefully two of the years you are "required" to live on campus. It is perfect for everything you need and most people will be in Barrett if they live at Vista. I have taken some pictures of my room, sorry for the mess I was cleaning. The halls are considered "outside" but the units themselves are nice. I have a quad unit, which is a 4 Private room set up. You have the entrance with two rooms on the left and the other two on the opposing side. In between is a living room with a bar kitchen counter set up. MOST of the units have balconies but some do not. If you don't have one your living room will be BIGGER (PS that is where you want to party, more space). You also have a dish washer and dryer/washer combo. The microwave is above the stove and the sink is a duel basin. The room is furnished. Except the bed sheets and shower curtain. I would just like to finish by stressing some cons. Maintenance can be rather slow, they only get to your claim over certain times of the day and sometimes want you to be there and other times don't. The rooms are somewhat older, but ASU has renovated many of the buildings and installed brand new appliances/ furniture. I highly suggest you try to have a walk through or make some friends at Vista del sol to show you their rooms and the most newly renovated buildings. You can for the most part pick your room on the housing website and see the building code along with room number. But do it early."
