"Diamond in the rough. Hidden in Mid-Town with all local eateries and night life just outside your door. Great outdoor style, fresh air and canal access. Never seen a roach in 2yrs of living here. Affordable rent and modern design."
"Lived here for two years in a 1 bedroom. The good: 1. Tina in the front office is the GOAT and always quickly helped me deal with any issues I had 2. The base rent is inexpensive for this area - especially for a 2 bedroom 3. None of the “luxury apartment” extra fees that the newer apartments in this area try and tack on 4. Location is great, lots of cute stuff in the area, back gate goes directly to the Grand Canal and walking distance to the lightrail and Lux Coffee (highly recommend) 5. They don’t nickle-and-dime you for damages on move-out, as long as you clean you should be fine The bad: 1. Older building = older building problems. I had several plumbing emergencies when I lived here, which were handled quickly but still frustrating. The AC units are old and loud, and units have the wear-and-tear that you'd expect from a building from the 70's 2. Shared utilities: electric is split among all of the tenants. I think this causes people to run their AC like crazy, because it feels pointless to be conservative when the bill will be split among the whole complex. The utilities were routinely significantly higher than they are when you are billed for just your unit and are careful with your electric use 3. Soundproofing between units: My first upstairs neighbor was very quiet but what ultimately made me move out was a guy moving in upstairs that walked with a heavy step. After talking to other first-floor tenants, I found out that pretty much everyone can hear their upstairs neighbor’s movements (and conversations). I talked to the guy and the front office did everything they could to help (offering to send noise complaints or switch my lease to a new unit) but ultimately the guy upstairs wasn’t even crazy loud - it’s just a super old building so the floors/ceilings are thin. All in all I would recommend, but I would say do your best to get a top-floor apartment, unless you want to very intimately know your upstairs neighbors’ life and routines. If you split one of the two-beds between two people it’s the lowest rent you can get in the Midtown area."
"Leasing and Maintenance staff are doing a wonderful job! They very quickly respond to any issues or maintenance requests (big or small). Property is well kept and in a great location. With only a few minutes walk from great restaurants and light rail, it’s a great place to live."
"Icon on Central has been a wonderful place to live! The apartments are beautiful, with large bedrooms and an open living space. The staff has always been quick to respond to maintenance issues and always communicates with residents. Additionally, maintenance has done a great job keeping the property clean and pleasing to look at. The location is great, safe and secure with an entry gate, walking distance from many yummy restaurants, and just a short drive from downtown PHX. We had no pest issues, and the unit was well prepared for us at move-in. Had I not been moving out of state, I would have renewed."
"UPDATE: The water continues to go in and out of service every week or so. Plus they won’t switch the heat over to A/C until 4/18 from what we have been told. So even though Phoenix is starting to hit 90, no one gets air conditioning. So happy that our lease is up in 2 months and would NOT recommend anyone moving here. I moved in just as they were being updated so we got an apartment that was fully renovated and no one else had lived there yet. Appliances were brand new, like pull the plastic off them kind of new which was nice. The apartments themselves are very nicely designed and the whole complex is very clean for the most part. The location is probably the best part about this place, as it is a great part of town. However, there are a lot of parts of it that make it hard to recommend for your money. The new staff in the front office are not as competent as the previous women was, and isn't very helpful to be honest. Maintenance requests take a while to get completed. I sent one in over a month ago and it still isn't completed. The gates are really loud, and since my unit is right next to the parking gate and one of the walking entrances I hear them all the time. The laundry facilities aren't in unit, which would be fine except that they only take cash (which for a place that just got updated is lame) and there is usually a wait to use them. The most frustrating part of this place is the utilities, as they use an "equation" to breakdown utility cost since each unit isn't monitored. I've lived in the area previously, in a larger apartment, and with more people and our water/trash/sewage bills are still far more expensive here. To give you some perspective, for 2 people we typically pay $80 a month for water, and our trash bill was just $40."
