"Do not move here. I moved out two months ago and they are still causing me issues. The front office management is incapable of doing their job correctly. They sent my last payment to collections even though they sent email verification that I have a zero-balance account with them. They never inspected my apartment for mold after I had a leaking AC and requested testing. The apartment was constantly getting ant infestations, you had to get toxic pesticides sprayed twice a month which is horrible if you have pets."
"Sierra the leasing agent made renting an apartment here so easy. I had been driving around all day viewing apts and drove Highland apts didn’t even have an appt but as soon as I walked in Sierra customer service was amazing. So helpful and welcoming. Thank you so much and excited to be moving in soon!!"
"I just recently completed my 12 month lease here at highland park and it was great. From move-in to move-out Maureen and Sierra remained professional and courteous about any and all issues that I may have had. Maintenance issues were promptly handled. Management here is transparent about everything and they were very flexible when I kept them in the loop of things (read your lease folks). I had no excessive charges or fees upon move out, unlike some other places. The only downside is the road noise that can be loud at times, but this is at no fault of the complex. HOWEVER, there are so many food places, grocery stores, night life, all within a couple miles of the property. Which I think makes up for the little bit of noise you can drown out with a good movie."
"*Reposting this review due to Highland Park somehow hiding my previous review where no one could see it. Shows how shady these people are* I first moved into Highland Park in 2014. It was an amazing place to live for the better part of my nine years there, which is why I was there for so long. When the new management took over, the whole place went downhill very quickly. The catalyst was when they would not let me pay my rent and then charged me a late fee. You read this correctly: They would not let me pay... And then charged me a late fee. Their website to make payments was down at the time, their issue, not mine, and they wouldn't let me pay with a money order. They claimed that banks were not accepting money orders at the moment, which I confirmed with two different banks was completely false. They were only accepting checks. I bank with USAA so there were no physical banks for me to go to and get a check so I had to wait for one. When I told them this, they were not empathetic or understanding in the slightest, which they should be considering, again, it was THEIR website that is down and they were lying about not being able to take a money order. The property manager, Maureen, just kind of shrugged her shoulders and made a face that screamed "Well, not my problem." This brings me to issue two with this place. Maureen and the others are extremely rude and inconsiderate. Maureen will talk to you like you are a little child. They don't care about any kind of issues you bring to their attention, which are plenty. Such as: 1. There was a loud humming noise in my bathroom. I don't know what it was and where exactly it was coming from, but it was extremely obnoxious. They said there was nothing they could do about it. They never even made any kind of attempt to figure out what it was. The final six months of my stay here consisted of this humming noise coming from my bathroom, nonstop. 2. The place wreaks of weed. You can't even leave your apartment without being hit with the smell of it. The lease agreement says you can't smoke weed on the property but that didn't stop anyone. No matter where you went, it was present. 3. The place is extremely loud. Tenants here have no consideration for others. I brought this to the office' attention many times but it was futile as they did nothing about it. One time, while working from home, a neighbor of mine had his music blaring to the point where it sounded like it could have been coming from in my apartment. When I called to report it, they're response was word for word "Well, people are allowed to do what they want between the hours of 7am and 10pm."... I couldn't believe that's what their response was. I understand it's not going to be completely quiet during the day time, but people were obnoxious with their music, their screaming, fighting, etc. The 7am-10pm was total nonsense as well because when I reported noise from the middle of the night, they did nothing about that either. 4. The place is very trashy and disgusting. Nobody picks up their dog poop (or their own poop, knowing this place), there's random things, like shopping carts, just laying around, trash is everywhere, etc. 5. Your stuff will get stolen here. In a time span of just one week, I had two packages stolen from my front door. One of which was stolen just 10 minutes from when it was delivered. And when I brought this to the front office attention, Sierra didn't care in the slightest 6. They force you to use this trash valet service, charging you $40 a month even if you don't use it. This contributes greatly to the place looking extremely trashy and adds even more smells to the environment. 7. The area itself is just disgusting. Homeless people everywhere. Sketchy people roaming the streets at all hours of the night, etc. This isn't Highland Parks fault but it's worth noting. They bring in trashy people. If you're one of those people, that stays up all night, being loud, smoking weed all day, then you'll love it here. But if you're a contributing member of society, that works, you'll hate it."
"great apartment complex! Sierra at the leasing office is the best! Myra and Maureen are very nice and understanding if you need assistance and they will try their best to help if they can. there’s a dog park for your pets, two pools, and an amazon locker where all bigger packages are locked up! one downside, there is a $25 valet trash fee even if you don’t use it. aside from that it’s a nice place to live!"
