Reviews
"Lived here for awhile but def moving. Pool area smells like dog poop and pee.. They don’t replace water filters, don’t let door dashers up the elevator, PEOPLE constantly poop in the elevator or on the stairs.. not ideal for the price. Go to AVE or somewhere else because this is a POVERTY location. It is not luxury… save your time and money.."
"Here visiting a friend and I am impressed by this property and the staff. I spoke with a lady at the front desk about possibly moving here once my current lease is over and she was beyond helpful and very nice. I typically don't leave reviews but there was a guy who yelled at her for him noting paying his bill, I don't see how this was her fault but I guess people are just a little off nowadays. Lol he told her he was going to leave a bad review so I thought I'd write a great review. Her customer service was great in handling this situation and she definitely deserves 5 stars!"
"RUN AWAY. Don't even consider leasing from this property. Leasing from The Rey Downtown has been an absolute nightmare. From the time we leased, through our 12 month lease, through 3 months post moving out. This property is NOT maintained and the halls reak of garbage and animal poop. The noise levels around the property are extremely high and cause many unpleasant night time experiences. Imagine getting suddenly woken up at 4 am to the sounds of a bazooka going off!! Yes that actually happened on multiple occasions. Management is very dismissive of security concerns as myself and many neighbors expressed multiple concerns of random people getting access into the garage and halls due to the garage gate not working for weeks at a time. I moved out 3 months ago when my lease ended and once I got my final account statement a few days later, I paid off any amounts owed through the resident portal. My account balance showed(and still shows today on 1/23/24) a $0 balance but to my surprise this week my credit score and girlfriends credit score dropped -80 points because they sent us to collections for a supposed "unpaid balance" that 1) they have no record of and 2) never notified us about. I reached out to the Rey Downtown and Sky the person who answered was extremely dismissive of my concern regarding this and did not sound like she gave a damn about this situation that they have put us in. Now I am left having to go out of my way to reach out to the collection agency to dispute this. IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND TIME - I REPEAT DO NOT LEASE FROM THE REY."
"I would give this place zero stars if I could. The crime issues in the older reviews have not been fixed. I've had several packages stolen from my front door. Management told me it's my problem. There's posts in the resident portal all the time about other people's packages getting stolen. The building is very dirty. People smoke in the elevators, hallways and parking garage. There's always dog pee in the elevator. No one renews their lease here. For the price of this place move into one of the nice buildings instead."
"I wish I had chosen a different building. *Right now, the building is 100% accessible to anybody.* TL;DR: I’ve tried to be considerate of the fact that this is a new building, but at the end of the day, the negatives have to do with FORE Properties infrastructure and the building design. 1. The price doesn't match quality. 2. Building management is dismissive. 3. The security/technology set-up of the building is non-existent & frustrating: I emailed about a broken first-floor door 13 days ago, and it still is broken, allowing ANYBODY into the building. 1. It’s not worth it. The construction work was shoddy—crooked cabinets, fragile floors that are scuffed & cut by everything, my bathroom fan was installed incorrectly (it's loud 24/7, as opposed to the kitchen fan of the same type). All of the appliances are base model. My kitchen sink doesn’t drain well (water accumulates in sink due to the style of splash guard). The toilet flusher must be held down for an extended time to flush properly, or else the toilet doesn’t get enough water (maintenance came twice). This building doesn’t fit the price tag. 2. The women in the leasing office are nice & helpful (shoutout to Kristen and Mia!). However, I emailed last month about the pool lighting shining into people’s apartments, suggesting this could be minimized for sleep quality. I mentioned other inefficient energy use (in the gym, game room, & at least 20 empty apartments), and somebody replied that the building is required to light amenities 24/7, regardless of if somebody is using them. No city, county, or state regulations I’ve found supports this, so I have to question whether that was even true or if she just didn’t want to deal with my email. There’s not recycling & they are running up hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in energy costs each month, by keeping televisions, lights, and Sonos speakers on 24/7, not to mention internal thermostats set to 73--but are getting LEED certified? Furthermore, I emailed the building about a broken first-floor door on Oct 4. Oct 5 they put in a maintenance request. I went out of town, but today (Oct 17), the door is still not fixed—this is a huge security risk, and almost 2 weeks later, management still hasn’t seen that this high-priority issue has been taken care of. 3. Through the door that’s been broken for at least 3 weeks, anybody can enter the building and use the stairs to access any part of the building. I have been frustrated by aspects of the building since move-in, but discovering this door hasn't been fixed in the last two weeks was the last straw as far as writing a review. The main doors to the building don’t have a fob pad, rendering them useless after hours. Some high traffic doors regularly “go down”, causing you to lug your groceries from door to door or elevator to elevator until you find a functional one. The STRATIS app which operates locks in the building randomly logs you out & takes about 30 seconds to load, and you have to use this app or a fob to operate the elevator to any floor except 1 (for example, if you live on the 7th floor and you’re headed down to the gym on 3). The main lobby elevator was out of service for 4 days—not because the elevator itself didn’t work, but because the access fob pad needed to be replaced. However, the stairs don’t necessarily need this permission, which simply doesn’t make sense (people breaking & entering only use the elevator?). I wish the outer security system was more functional/efficient, whereas the internal security was more functional & less excessive. The security system just doesn’t make sense, & the poor technology is a daily frustration. They simply shouldn’t have set up the building this way. Positives: The location is great for school. The layout of my apartment is nice and spacious. The building is getting around to fixing things that were damaged in the construction process. Second star because it's obviously not a dump. But overall: there’s a lot of other buildings downtown and midtown, with the exact same amenities for hundreds of dollars less."
