"I wasn’t too thrilled with my experience at this office. First of all the nurse was not the most friendly. I was not impressed by the doctor either. Yes, he was very thorough, however I had been experiencing symptoms for the last year and a half that were affecting my quality of life. I had asked for a blood panel, specifically asking to check my thyroid as I was experiencing a good amount of Hypothyroid symptoms. I gave him the laundry list of symptoms that I was experiencing, and for some reason the only symptom he focused on was the weight gain. I had quite sugar a couple weeks before due to Large amounts of daily inflammation that I was experiencing. He proceeded to give me a talk about how he does not believe in restrictive diets and they can cause more weight gain. He then recommend a plant based diet….. at this point, I was so confused as a plant-based diet is also a restrictive diet As it cuts out animal products. He then tells me that he doesn’t think my blood work is going to come back abnormal. I had told him that I had had a blood panel done on my antibodies a year ago that came back extremely high, and I even showed him the results. He told me he didn’t know what that was and recommended me taking Metamucil for my constipation. I left, feeling angry, unheard and thinking that I would feel sick for the rest of my life because nobody seem to believe me. I was finally recommended to see an endocrinologist who Looked at my antibody count and told me I had Hashimoto’s Disease, which is an autoimmune disorder that causes hypothyroidism. Which was the reason I was experiencing so many symptoms of hypothyroidism such as ( weight gain, constipation , and inflammation). My endocrinologist did an ultrasound on my thyroid, which was inflamed and had a nodule on it. At the end of the day my thyroid was starting to go downhill although my TSH Was considered to be with in a normal Range. I understand that not everybody specializes in everything in the medical field, However, if you don’t know what’s happening, at least refer someone out. I had given a long list of symptoms that were making it hard for me to function during the day and to be told that I’m OK is absolutely infuriating. I’m finally on my way to recovery, however, I want this office to know that they need to listen to their patients."
