"The environment and staff were just what my family member needed. Five Stars for sure!! Food was good too!"
"Went to er with insomnia which I have had most of my life. It had been 2 full weeks without a single minute of sleep. Felt like going crazy. Put me in behavioral unit. Stayed for 4 days. In that time I never saw a dr. Nor did I get anyone to prescribe me a sleep pill. They did give me a an anxiety pill. It didn’t work and let them know. Told me “that was all they had.” No one came to discuss with me about insomnia. Two of my friends were able to “break me out of there.” I had to sign a particular statement within 2days to for them to consider my leaving. Now 4 more days are added to my sleeplessness. When I received the bill I owed $665? In room and board! The insurance did not cover it. The only person who seemed to do any work was the activity coordinator. It was a total waste of time and money. I felt the staff was conspiring to keep people in the building. They know it’s their bread and butter. I have to say the food wasn’t bad."
"Do not allow your loved one to go to this place. My stepmom went here, they put her on 13+ medications without even consulting her psychiatrist, a doctor she's been seeing for 8 years. They gave her completely new meds when all she needed was stabilization on her current med regiment. Then when we complained, they took away her pain medicine and she's been in severe pain for two days. The doctor is condescending and tries to bully his patients and anyone who has a problem with his care tactics. Many of the staff were condescending (in this moment, I've been waiting to pick up my mom for 15 min, when we had a scheduled pickup time) Some staff were amazing. Ruth was very helpful and Jason the director was helpful. Melissa was helpful too."
"I do not (as a psychiatrist) understand how Oro Valley can represent itself as a "geriatric behavioral unit" if they cannot provide neurology consults for their inpatients. Neurological illness is inherent to geriatric psychiatric illness and treatment!?!"
