"Beware of predatory pricing and unethical financial practices! After 13 years of being Dr. Jay's patient, I trusted him to be fair and competent when I got braces to fix a broken, top, front tooth. Bad decision! I should have gotten a second opinion and other price quotes because I ended up with grossly overpriced and ineffective treatment. When I initially decided to move forward with braces, the office had me to sign off on a pre-estimate for “Comp Adult Ortho” for $5500; no detail about the treatment or duration was included in the pre-estimate, nor was the alternative of metal braces, which would have been covered under contract, provided. During the 19+ weeks I waited for initial trays (so the treatment had not yet effectively begun), the office insisted I make significant, out-of-pocket payments up front (totaling $3000). After impressions were taken and it was determined my treatment plan would be only 12 weeks (6 trays), they refused to consider revising the pre-estimate. In addition, the front office worker advised me to tell my insurance company I was under treatment for a full year in order to maximize my insurance benefits. During treatment Dr. Jay shaved my front, bottom teeth, presumably to create space. At the end of the 12-week treatment, the newly-created gaps were still there and now I had a new problem of food getting stuck and my teeth looked worse, so I had to continue treatment. I received 4 new trays (8 additional weeks of treatment) after waiting another 10 weeks for new trays to be delivered. In summary, I received 10 trays (20 weeks) of treatment over 50 weeks, and my teeth look worse than they did when I began. Kierland Detail Arts collected $3000 from me and $1300 from my insurance company, and they continue to bill me for $800 more, even though the treatment is incomplete and was incompetently delivered. I asked repeatedly for them to reconsider charges, given the unsatisfactory process and results, but they refused. Horrible experience!"
