"I visited this store today with my adult daughter who is financially capable. Immediately noticed a difference between the welcome we received at Talbots vs J.Jill. J.Jill experience was amazing. In Talbots, there were 2 sales ladies that were older and they made the incorrect assumption at first sight that my daughter needed the financial assistance of her mother. This is so offensive and discriminate to make that assumption of any person. The sales ladies were condescending by asking her if this shopping trip was for her first job and the other stated “I remember coming here 30 years ago with my mom when I was in the same situation. These are great quality clothes that will last.” Excuse me. You don’t know her situation. My daughter corrected them by explaining it’s not her first job, which she should not have had to do. Let me just say that these assumptions were very much off-base. Do you really have to be 50+ and dressed like a diamond to get great customer service? Piece of advice - teach your sales associates to just be friendly and human without discriminatory assumptions. Next time we will be skipping Talbots and shop elsewhere."
