"This is an old country kitchen with a twang and been here years in this little store front. I’m a Phoenician and love these local places with Az charm . Make your way here for breakfast ! We did and yum ! Homey so- if you are expecting a trendy spot this is not it . Buy and patron - Local ! Order pancakes , French toast and eggs and you can’t go wrong"
"Found this gem by mistake turning into the wrong parking lot. Mikey's Family Restaurant has since become our favorite breakfast spot. The staff are mature adults, and attentive, the food is excellent, and although the decor is a little dated, it's clean and feels cozy like many restaurants used to be, and what we prefer over modern chain restaurants. We dine out for great food, and the personalized attention. Parking has never been a problem. Highly recommend"
"Breakfast prices were decent, for was good, except that the gravy on the budgies was too sweet. It was palatable, but I prefer my gravy less sweet"
"The vibes were alright. A sign reads "Seat Yourself" as you walk in - and on this day, there were plenty of spots in the center tables (all booths taken). We sat and the waitress, and elderly woman, literally PLOPS the menus in front of us. A bit rude but, okay. She eases up as the meal goes on. The gravy on the biscuits tasted underdone- floury and very thick. The eggs were dry and runny, somehow (not seasoned). The Ruben had some bites that were tough and hard to chew. The fries were phenomenal! Crispy and nice. Maybe next time, I'll try the Club sandwich or an omelet."
"We love visiting small, local diners when we’re traveling and had high hopes for Mikey’s based on the reviews. We dropped in for breakfast on a Thursday and it was empty except for an elderly man wandering around who couldn’t find his car keys. My husband and I ordered a basic egg breakfast with potatoes, bacon and toast. There was absolutely no seasoning on any of the food, but at least they supplied a bottle of Tabasco on the table. The food wasn’t terrible, it was just bland. The coffee, on the other hand, was just awful, basically hot brown water for $3 a cup. The decor needs updating badly, it’s like stepping back into the 70’s to a place where your gramma used to like to go for Sunday lunch. The ladies room is used as a storage closet for 2 gallon buckets of something marked ‘caustic’. Now, the service was great and the folks were very friendly and attentive, always coming by with more of that coffee. The menu had lots of choices but I was intrigued by the dinner specials of the day, lots of down home items like liver and onions, and fish on Friday (of course). This restaurant did appear very clean, the carpet was vacuumed and the tables were bused and wiped down. It feels very much like an old neighborhood favorite, Mikey’s just really needs an updated dining room and restrooms and more thoughtful storage for chemicals other than around and in the restrooms."
