Reviews of Wallowa County Museum
"Great small town museum with some amazing antiques and artifacts.. has an elevator to access the second floor. It's in a beautiful old building with a rich history of its own.. I believe that they need to add more to the Nez Peirce history as it is their homeland dating back thousands of years. There is one room with some nice exhibits and a little information but not much for as big of a part as they took in the history of the area.. I suggest everyone who loves history and native American culture should stop by and check this place out.. there is a small fee to tour the museum that helps keep it open but I believe it's worth it.."
"A step above many small town museums. Housed in a historic bank visitors can learn about banking as it used to be done. A real asset to the museum is a thoroughly modern elevator between the first and second floors. Decent restrooms too. Very interesting exhibits thoughtfully displayed. No tickets but suggested donations are welcome"
"Beautiful exhibits, fascinating history and friendly informed staff. Everything from Native American artifacts to medical or war items to high school year books. The amount of historical family information was also impressive."
"Lots of pioneer and Native American history with tools and clothing from past eras. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Something for everyone's interest, but only a few interactive displays for kids. Spent a pleasant and informative hour there."
"I loved taking a trip back in time and seeing some things my family had as I was growing up. It's really nice all they have collected and preserved for future generations to see. Will recommend to others, a must stop when in Joseph."
