"I needed a new storm door for an area where we keep pets, and I knew that they sold Larson. They’re also the closest place to my house. I called to check stock and to ask a couple of questions, but as soon as I asked if the door was in stock, the kid put me on hold so fast that I couldn’t ask him the other main question I had, so when he got back on the phone, (clearly upset that I’d had him check stock) I asked him if the screens were aluminum or nylon. Apparently that was a bridge too far for him, because he rudely informed me that he wasn’t a “plumber or an electrician” so I’d need to come and check for myself. REALLY…? That one’s just funny because of the abject stupidity of his response. Another time, I came in looking for a specific hardware item. I can’t remember exactly what it was but it wasn’t an exotic item and should be standard fare for a hardware store. The counter employee assured me (after I asked him if he was sure) that they didn’t cary the item, but out of a combination of curiosity and disbelief, I searched for it anyway and found one. The employees there don’t even pretend to care about what you want or why you want it. It’s a convenient place to go if you know what you want and where it is in the store though. I really believe that his store could capitalize on its location and become something great. I worked in the lumber business as a younger person and I lament the demise of the traditional lumber yard. This store has a perfect opportunity to be that for this area because we’re so far from the Lowe’s or Home Depot stores. Wouldn’t it be nice if they aspired to the kind of service and knowledgeability that “real” lumber yards used to have? In my opinion, this store is only in business because of their location. NOT because people love the service and appreciate the help."

"I'm sure not if all the floor help is this way at Sutherlands but the floor people I interacted with, along with the some of the Department Managers seemed either too busy and stressed out or flat out resistant to offer help when requested. There were some nice folks too, however, way more unfriendly employees working at the Amidon location. All the more reason that I'll go anywhere else to shop, even if I have to drive further and or pay more for my merchandise. Get your attitude adjusted people at Sutherlands."

"Clean, organized well. Signage small. Staff undertrained on products. I adjusted my coveralls at the shoulders and was followed after that. They were waiting outside then speed walking around the parking lot. I was like wow. Then laughed hysterically."

"Sutherlands is an excellent place to shop for hardware and Home improvement items. Their prices are great and people wandering around asking you if you need help with finding anything. Lowe's and Home Depot could learn a lot from Sutherland's. I think I might start making Sutherland's my first stop! Highly recommend."
