"I’ve been getting my hair done here for almost 4 years and I have to say Kenzie is one of the best hair stylists I’ve ever had! She always listens to what I ask for and I always leave the salon very happy with my hair! Cannot recommend her business enough!"
"Hadley was my hairstylist and she did a fantastic job! If you're looking for someone who is professional, funny, and super talented I could not recommend her more. I have never been more pleased going to a salon. She gave me exactly what I asked for. Her rates were phenomenal and she got me in crazy fast. I just got my hair done yesterday and have already had so many compliments! I will certainly be coming back in the future."
"I normally have a hair stylist that I go to for several years now, but for personal reasons, my normal hair stylist was unable to do my normal 3-4 month dye session in August so I decided to give Rebel Roots a try. Mckenzie was my hair stylist and all I asked for was permanent inky black with undertones of violet to make it shiny which is my go to with my normal stylist. I already have naturally dark hair and had been working my way back from a purple-red to black with already a session of permanent black done with my main hairstylist 3 months prior. At the time, my hair was a dark brown, almost close to my natural hair color, which is a very dark brown. After she dyed my hair and I went home, I noticed bands of the previous color in the middle of my hair that was missed and even sent pictures for proof. I was extremely upset by this because I only asked for a solid black hair color and it seemed like she rushed it. In addition to this, I have naturally curly hair, probably a 3a or 3b. When she styled my hair, she blow dried and curled my hair, which is what I normally have done when someone curls my hair with a curling iron so that was fine, but then she used a paddle brush to brush it out. If a hair stylist knew about curly hair, they would know that is the exact opposite of what you should do on dry curly textured hair, regardless of whether it was curled on top with a curling iron. A wide toothed comb would have been a better choice to brush out curls when your client has curly hair. My hair was frizzy and flat the entire day and I walked out of the salon looking like that. I was so upset with it that when I went home, I added some water to my hair to get back some of my natural curl. What frustrated me about this is I had a bang trim with her a few weeks prior so she saw my natural hair. If she was not confident in working with it, she should have let me know that day because I told her I was thinking about booking her for my hair dye. When I reached out to her the day of regarding the missing spots, she told me she didn't have any space for weeks and would get someone else to fix it which happened a few days after the first dye visit. I even asked her if she used an inky black and she said she used the darkest, yet I could still see undertones of brown within the black when my hair hit the light and that's not what normally happens when my hair is dyed the darkest black it can be. I thought we got it all cleared up but when I went back to my normal stylist for my regular bang trim a few weeks later, she noticed more missing spots of black and how faded the color was getting. I am extremely disappointed at this service and I did hesitate writing this review, but after seeing someone who went through the same situation as me write how they felt, I figured I should too. If you have curly hair and want to go dark or keep up with your dark hair, she might not be not the stylist for you, which in my opinion, hair stylists should be well rounded enough to not miss spots of color when you're doing full black. I also don't think you should be passing your client onto another hair stylist that works for you when it was your work that you did and you should be reassessing what went wrong. I only gave an extra star beyond a 1 star because she did try to rectify the situation, despite it taking several days for it to get done. I added one picture of my hair prior to the dye and then shots of the parts of my hair that are noticeably brown. Edit based on salon owner reply: I was never looking for a fix to this issue. Only to address the issue and my concerns for future clients. I did not go back in 5 months because of my experience and as I said before, I have a regular hair stylist I go to so there was no need for me to go back regardless. The first 3 images posted are also from the same day my hair was dyed in case there was any confusion. I do appreciate the professional response to my review."
"Ysabelle is a miracle worker!!!! On a Friday, I went to a girl in Potlach to get a balayage and layers added into my long hair and she completely butchered my haircut and the so called "balayage" was a poorly done highlight job. To say I was distressed would be an understatement! I was searching google for another salon and came across Rebel Roots and Ysabelle in particular, and was able to get a hold of her that same evening in tears, telling her what happened. Yall, she agreed to meet me NEXT DAY, on Saturday, to fix this stripey hack job. And not only that, she graciously gave me a discount. She is not only an AWESOME hairstylist, but she's good people. She spent 5.5 hours on a Saturday completely redoing the color and fixing beautifully, but also brought order back to my layers. I am forever grateful to her, not only for saving my hair, but giving up her time and taking a price cut to help a fellow distressed girl who had a terrible hair experience. She's got talent, check her out!! I included 2 pictures of after, and 3 pictures before so you can see how she worked her skilled magic!"
