"The cornbread was so amazing didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it!!!! I had the shrimp po' boy and it was really good! I hate spicy stuff! In coming to this restaurant I was afraid of everything being spicy. The po boy had a little spice but it did not overpower! Would definitely come back this place did not disappoint! Would highly highly highly recommend!"
"We went for a combination MardiGras Valentine’s dinner. The atmosphere was charming and well decorated for MardiGras. We started with hush puppies (which were made correctly) and taste absolutely Devine! The sauce they serve with it was a true compliment to itself. We also had to try the cornbread which was absolutely delicious it comes in strips and is fried, it brings you right back to some delicious southern soul food made with Love. For Dinner I had the crawfish ettoufe’ the complexity of the broth was delicious, you could taste the crawfish but it was not overpowering and allowed you to taste all the flavors of the broth, when mixed with the long grain rice it was heavenly, what took it to the next level was dipping a hush puppy in its broth. It brought me back to my time in the Southern States for college. My husband enjoyed his jambalaya it was packed with andouille sausage and shrimp with rice and Mari poi, the heat was perfect it was not made to be so hot it was uncomfortable but spicy enough that on the backend you could taste the spice and all of the beautiful ingredients that compiled the dish. We also wanted to try their cheesy grits, these were absolutely superb! They made a nice accompaniment to both our supers. I’d just order the grits by themselves. They were perfectly cooked and tasted EXACTLY as a remembered. Truly authentic. For dessert we tried the King Cake and Croissant bread pudding, the cake was packed with pecans and tasted so good unfortunately it was very dry (it should have been served with ice cream), but the flavor was good. The croissant bread pudding was perfect by itself, the burbon caramel sauce was grainy though however the flavor was on point. I tried the signature burbon cocktail and it was good. We are looking forward to going again sometime."
"Updating my review- originally I went here for dinner for a birthday. The food was good, not consistent, but good. Service was great. The cocktail was a little off but not bad. I returned today for lunch and the service was terrible. We were ignored when we walked in. When we finally got seated, it took a while for them to take our orders. The waiter forgot items twice, and had to be reminded, food took a long time to come out. I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was unfortunately, overcooked. The cocktail, not good. Tasted like some ingredients were left out and it was very bitter, I only had about a 1/3. The beignets did not have much flavor, except for the powdered sugar and were a bit tough. The atmosphere visually was beautiful, but they were playing Christmas music so loud that my friends and I could barely hear each other. I was disappointed by this second visit. I’m hoping this experience was mostly due to poor staffing, so I’m leaving my rating at four due to my previous experience."
"I was at the Vieux Carre Restaurant for lunch. Beautiful decor, plenty of seating, no waiting. Convenient free parking behind the restaurant. The server was friendly and helpful. The Pear and Goat Cheese Salad was excellent. And I highly recommend the cornbread! I look forward to visiting again soon."
"Everything was phenomenal! The food put me in heaven, we tried the frog legs, crawfish boil, cornbread, mussels, sticky ribs and oysters. If I could have ate more I would have ordered more. Our server was funny, attentive and showed us how to eat a crawfish, she was great! The cocktails were delicious too. I would drive 3 hours just to go back here and eat."
