"I would stay far away from Goetz CU. I went into a branch with my mom to open up an account for her. She wanted me to be a signer on the account, but it turns out that you can only have owners on the account. Which is fine, but it would have been nice to have an explanation. The Member Service Rep who helped did not introduce herself, explain what type of an account we would be getting, did not offer any disclosers, fees, or policies of the CU. It took about 5 minutes to open the account, we were not asked if we wanted a debit card, checks, or even online banking. When they give you online banking, they give you a card with your account number on it and a 123 temporary password. This is not secure, especially if you leave the branch and lose your card as signing up for online banking does not verify your identity. Their website and app are horrible as well. It looks like you are going back to the 1990s. There are no options to help you reset your username/password afterhours."
"I have banked with Goetz for 7+ years and really liked them for the first few years. I don’t know what happened but they have went downhill. Strike 1. In 2018 I got $30 deposits for 4 months from the City of St Joe. I didn’t think much of it and thought it was something to do with my ex-husband’s electrician union membership. Come to find out they were being deposited in our account by mistake and they withdrew the money back out of my account, which was OK and mistakes happen. Then strike 2. They allowed my ex-husband to close our joint checking account without my knowledge when we separated. Maybe they only require one person to close a joint account but I think that is wrong, and I know a lot of banks don’t allow that. Joint owners of a checking account have equal ownership of that account. I could’ve had pending deposits or withdrawals, and it could’ve created a mess. Luckily, it didn’t though. Then strike 3. I started getting charges from planet fitness for a membership I don’t have. Called Geotz the first time and they told me it must’ve been as mistake and we will take care it. Same thing happened the next month. I went and talked to the manager at planet fitness, and she found where my account was linked to someone else’s membership by mistake. She also said she would take care of it, and it wouldn’t happen again. Well, obviously she didn’t because it happened a third time. I called Goetz again and was told yeah, there’s one number that is wrong so it’s coming from your account and asked me to come in and sign a stop payment, and they wouldn’t charge me for it. I appreciate that, but news to them I wasn’t going to pay for the stop payment because this mistake had nothing to do with me. However, I would like to know how it went through my account when the NAME was different? Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought all that information had to match. And I also thought, I am glad I watch my account because if I was someone that didn’t I probably wouldn’t have noticed $26.99 coming out of my account each month. Someone would’ve been getting a free planet fitness membership on me. Needless to say, I don’t feel that my money is safe there anymore. Sadly, I have decided to switch banks. I gave them two stars because I did have some good experiences there."
"Do not bank with them they are rude and like to put your money on a ten day hold and not inform you if I could give zero stars I would. Some of the ladies are nice but somee are just straight rude and disrespectful and should not work with the public"
"Do not use Goetz Credit Union - I was belittled on the phone, told lies, rude remarks, unprofessional, and hung up on. They do not treat you with Respect, nor do they care. 0/5 - Would not recommend anyone use them"
"Been banking with GCU since I was 17 or so. Actually this has been the ONLY bank that has given me the chance and opportunity to get a loan with low credit, low income, and had faith in my ability to make payments on time. However, I don’t recommend this place for self-employed individuals due to GOETZ employees alone, not being able to fully (‘respectfully’) understand and appreciate that self contractors/ self-employeed workers, can’t always maintain the same standard paper work, or steady wages as someone who it is mandatory to give a paycheck to and sometimes isn’t always JUST direct deposit and shouldn’t have to be. I hope in the future, GCU starts becoming more lenient towards small businesses, or self employees because with bringing everything to prove someone can 100% make a payment. Getting denied for anything, with high credit and an extremely successful income verification. Kind of doesn’t seem professional to me. Still love it here, it’s creates my great awesome credit I have today. Sad to have to switch, with that being said. Any bank suggestion? I prefer in person to make things more professional fitting!"
