"I’ve been a member for about five years, and I really like the product. I’ve never had a bad experience at a resort or with global discovery vacations. This year, I have a one week trip planned to the East Coast of Florida later in August, I’ll be spending two weeks in Hilton head. I gave my daughter a trip to the West Coast of Florida this spring for a birthday present, and one of my sons will be joining me for a week in Hilton head for a Christmas present. There’s no way I could afford these resorts without my global discovery vacation membership! Highly recommend to anyone."
"I think I have used global 2 or 3 times. It is a complete waste of money. I bought this back in 2010 I believe. You have to book a trip at least a year in advance. That being said, I just stopped using it, and haven't used it since. They try to constantly book meetings with me to show me how they have improved, and I attended one, and it's the same thing...nothing has changed. If i could get my money back, I would. DO NOT DO IT!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!"
"I cannot express the joy we have in having a membership with Global. We've been members for about 10 years. One resort had a broken whirlpool but that could happen anywhere. Two were smaller but nice and the rest were so nice. We feel everyone should belong to Global. It's an unbelievable good deal and because you have a membership, it forces you to vacation (by choice of course). Cannot recommend highly enough! Do it!"
"Only trip we’ve taken is the free one, which after fees was far from free. The accommodation was meh! Went to St Maarten, enjoyed the Island, not so much the resort. We then booked a trip to Italy in 2020, obviously cancelled by Covid, Bit again after all the fees, turns out could’ve booked it my self for basically the same cost, so much for $199 a week.what we were offered in return after the cancellations was two expressways, which can only be booked 30 days in advance, no refund of the fees paid, they just kept that. The right thing to do would be allow us to re book that vacation, with no additional charges. The main reason we signed up was so my wife could spend a couple weeks a year visiting her sons in Israel, we were assured there were resorts available( turns out none)Then a year or so later they call to set a phone appointment, we thought we could address our problems, but no! Another sales pitch because they were now partnering with several hotels, and for just $3000 more after the initial $6000 we could add this benefit. No thanks, we spent $6000 initiation, $900 worth of fees on our free trip, no help with the cancelled Italy vacation, and we’re lied to about available spaces in Israel. $7000 down the toilet. No chance of recovering that cost, our membership is still open, but will never use, after fees we could’ve booked our Italy trip on our own, stayed at the same resort, for very close to the same money, so much for $199 a week. "Resorts are often not maintained or poorly maintained due to their status as a (in)frequently used timeshare. COVID appears to have made this issue worse since everyone uses the excuse they can't find workers (maybe try paying a living wage). As far as the reservations, you have to book 13 months in advance to get any of the nicer places, which are few and far between. Your stays are predetermined week blocks that are typically Sat-Sat. If you have a friend of family member with one of these, definitely take advantage of it, but don't fall victim to these poorly maintained vacation rentals or expect what they advertise to be 100% true, because it is far from it. Of the 3 most recent stays... Hawaii had broken AC, which wasn't terrible because the resort had bedroom units and we could keep the slider open to let the ocean breeze cool the room. Breckenridge had a closed restaurant, closed indoor pool, and closed hot tub, which is kind of a bummer since you are 15 minutes south of town. Upcoming Vegas stay had resort fees listed in the fine print that is almost double what I expected to pay since I missed that the first time around. Shame on me because I should have remembered every Vegas resort charges fees. This is the type of business where a bunch of properties are bought or leased and once the entry is made in the database, nothing is ever updated again. Set it and forget it rental units that the owners or staff have no interest in getting feedback for. Lady just called me to confirm my reservation and sounded like a lawyer trying to justify the poor condition of the rentals and issues I brought up saying it was the resorts duty and that I need to talk with them. Save that sass for your kids and friends, I'm a customer and you need to listen to feedback and fix it, not make excuses to save face because frankly I don't have time for it. How about you waste your day time work hours syncing up with the resort and not put that on the consumer... This is your business. Contact your associate properties and update your own website, don't put that on the consumer. Buyer beware, there have been numerous lawsuits against this company and tons of sour members who have just accepted it is what it is because they already bought in and there is no refund for your membership. If you want the option of being able to cancel your reservation, you'll need to pay $100 for the extra insurance."
