"You know I was there back in 2015 and 16 for 8 months when I graduated with those shoes they gave you as a completion of the program. After I went through it I told myself one of the most honest thing I ever had in my entire life. THESE SHOES MEAN NOT A GOD DAMN THING. Stone county children's division sent me there because my mother had a government check in the mail finally 8 months later when the judge asked well why did you send him there? no response, the Stone county sheriff was like well he threw a chair and then my mom in the courtroom was all like oh a $12 chair you can buy at Walmart and you send them there for 8 months and then the judge looked at the sheriff like he was stupid this is supposed to be the best government the whole world has ever seen they failed they let their citizen down it was nothing but a waste of time! All I needed was a dad to sit at the dinner table cuz that would have taught me there's a time and a place to say something but well life's not fair."

"—I was. A patient here for about eight months (MES) it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great, I will say the therapists aren’t amazing but, the staff were kind and really seemed to care. East cottage was definitely chaos and such but that’s expected at a mental health place, a few notable staff thAt were amazing are Chloe,Alyssa,Brynn and more! Definitely miss the staff, not the place—"

"I had a good experience here I wish I could have learned a lot more than what I did but I appreciate them for allowing me to come there and learn about why my actions should never be justified. People don't go through abuse there at all and we get visits unless our parents don't call and schedule a visit than you can't have one. I also learned that boundaries are in place for a reason I would recommend more of kids that have trauma or anything else that they wanna work on to come here."

"Overall as I look back to when I was a troubled teenager there was one staff and one counselor.That was easy for me to talk to while I stayed at south cottage in 2014 and graduated. That would be the counselor at the time Miss Christine and mr. Jones. We were able to have a senior skip day if our grades and everything we're good.I enjoyed my senior skip day. I also remember telling my teachers I wanted to drop out but they motivated me to keep going and on it I thought they knew my potential. I graduated accepted into crowder college. I may have dropped my classes at crowder College but I am now a mom of 2 boys ,know my boundaries, sober, married and a medical assistant student and more or less got my life together. "Some of us made it out and became "better". Not my word for it, just one most would prefer. That is not credited to this establishment. Whilst there were good staff, for each one there was an abusive one. Such as allowing other children to see the charts of another. Playing favorites. Or simply tired of their job, allowing for rash or unsympathetic treatment. Were we, as children, easy to deal with? Hell no. But we were just that, children. Turnaround is built to break the will of the kids and find them easier to manage. Not help them with their issues. If you want a real solution, send your child to Challenge & Change in Nevada Missouri. From personal experience, the staff are better trained as well supported by a system built on empathy and the goal of healing the children. One I am afraid I took for granted. As an adult, I urge you to be careful when reading into places like these. Please visit and look beyond the brochure."
