"To be honest, HS2 does not teach anything new or exciting until high school, which a find very scrambling because they still offer middle school classes even though nothing new is presented to their students. But even though they teach the exact same knowledge as a regular school, they STILL choose to have school start at 7:30 in the morning, leaving the choices of the parents to the following: have your child wake up at 6:00 in the god damn morning OR drive them to school everyday (if that is even possible). Edit: A few months ago they painted OVER all the murals. Making this school look drastically more sad."
"Ignore all the prank student reviews. Beaverton School District has some of the best options for students, and HS2 is no exception. My student has opportunities there that wouldn't have been possible at a mainstream middle or high school."
"This review is for the Heath & Science School (HS2) Located in Walker and 185th Ave. My child started her middle school in this awesome program where we were expecting something with more advanced opportunities than other schools within the school district. It was very unfortunate to see the poor administration from the principal and the vice principal (now in 2017, both have moved into new roles outside HS2). The lack of communication between principal, vice-principal and school staff members made this school a nightmare. The general idea/concept of the school looks great in paper and the open house sells the school as something that is much more advance than other middle and high schools. Through the year we discovered that HS2 curricula only meets the expectations as any of the other schools within the school district... there is nothing different in terms of new or more advance learning. The benefit if any, is that your kid will be in a "smaller" school or a place with less students. However, having less students does not mean that it will have less bullies. The program is very limited in terms of AP classes, formal PE, no sports, limited language studies, and no music or school band. Your kid will develop more social skills and will have better opportunities in a regular middle school or high school because of the following reasons. Your Boundary schools has a richer curricula than HS2 as an option schools. Example.. HS2 will have one language as for your kid to choose from, and your boundary high school will have more than one language for your kid to choose from. HS2 has no sports, If your kid is into sports, your option is to go to your boundary school and participate into the sport of preference at different levels of JV and Varsity. Once in HS2 your kid can go to his/her boundary school and participate in sports. What your kid will be missing is the social aspect of bonding with friends at school and may not be motivated to enjoy HS football games. Music is an integral part of many people in life. If your kid is into music, your boundary school has many options going from Marching band, Winter Percussion, Jazz, concert band, and others. In term of AP classes or dual credit classes, your boundary high school has more options on AP classes, and dual credits with PCC and PSU. HS2 has the concept that you keep the same teacher year after year, so your teacher in 6th grade will be your teacher in 7th grade and so on. That said, imaging your child getting tired of having the same teacher or just finding out that the teaching techniques does not work for your child. This does not give students the chance to learn and evolve into other alternatives. if you are looking for a smaller school just to protect your kid or because of bullies, then HS2 is not an option. I have four kids and in my opinion I made the mistake to have one of them in HS2. The other three are embracing HS an learning more social skills than my HS2 kid. Oh... forgot to tell you the nightmare of transportation. it was easier to drive my kid to school than having mi kid leaving very early in the morning and arriving very late because of the bus exchange. Enjoy"
"Amazing school. The teachers are very nice. Just don't make them mad. Art, Math, PE,etc are awesome awesome. In science, there is a ton of engineering. It's just awesome."
"Great school especially if you are putting your kid on the collage path. Not large amount of kids stay through hi school so they miss out on social interaction they would get in a regular hi school. Great academics though."
