"Lenox has really helped me and there are so many kids and teachers that I can point out one, by one. But I will have to say, that there are some harsh staff, but not rude or mean etc. -Kinsey 5th grade Lenox Elementary"
"My son has been going to Glencoe for 3.5 years now, School is supposed to be about education not pushing your political opinions. Teachers at Glencoe are self proclaimed Socialist Teachers. If my son wasn't in his last semester of school there I would transfer him. I would strongly recommend not sending you children to this school."
"The school system does not vet their employees! Why would they hire an online degree masters in science from Liberty University, that believes Earth was created 5,000 years ago. Liberty science teaches Noah's ark. Shame on Hillsboro School hiring a fake degree person like Mrs. Kahut!"
"The amount of cancellations of school may upset a lot of people, but there are good reasons. At the end of one of my school days, it started to snow. Luckily, I made it home safe (I walk). However, students who took the bus were unable to get home until 5:00-6:00. There were even some students at elementary schools who didn't get home until 9:00. By law, there need to be teachers on campus when students are present. Which means, when students are at school, so are the teachers. There was even a teacher (whom I know) who didn't even get home until 1:00 AM (yes, in the morning). Yes, I feel like some of the cancellations are a bit overkill, such as freezing rain and inclement weather. However, the HSD doesn't want another repeat of teachers and students getting home past sundown. I also have seen buses running off the roads into ditches and sidewalks. The last thing we want is a 25'000 pound piece of metal veering into a crowd of kids, cars, trees, lampposts, etc. In addition to the fact that buses are hard to control in general. Never before have we seen 7+ school cancellations. The only year that had a lot of snow was 2008, and we only had 5 cancellations. So please, keep in mind that the HSD wants to keep people safe, and to not repeat past events."
"The fact Hillsboro School District shut down their entire school system for one day, when inclement weather has not even reached the area yet, is appaling. They shut the entire School District down for one day. I don't think they understand how many problems this causes for families. People have to go to work, they have things to do, they can't be stuck in the house all day with their children. The snow hasn't even reached our town yet and won't for a couple more hours. Kids would already be at school right now. I find this moronic and absolutely unacceptable. The school district needs to figure out what really matters education or some silly snowflakes falling on the ground. Absolutely unacceptable Update: 01/09/17 It is currently 40° outside, 11am, and the temp this morning was above freezing, along with all night. There is NO ice on the road, there was minimal yesterday, it has all melted, along with the above freezing temperature, no snow all day, just rain, and the hillsboro school district continues to close school, for what? I am getting very very irritated at who ever is in charge of making these calls. All I see is pure lack of motivation, laziness, looking for any excuse to stay home and not do your job. I have friends who's children had school and they live in the hilly countryside of Oregon that still got hit with the current weather, please explain that? 40° and no inclement weather conditions is unacceptable!! I can guarantee you I'll be updating this post again in about 1-3 weeks when they do it again. Canceling school for inclement weather is understandable, but when there is none, it's not, nor acceptable! It causes multiple problems all around, except for you. Get your priorities straight hillsboro school district. Parents are not happy."
