Chestnut Place Apartments

"I LOVE living here! I can’t believe we only pay around $1,400 for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment! This is the only place that has amazing prices for quality. Definitely dated design but the quality is there, these are built to last. Our apartment is so cozy and wonderful. Such a quiet neighborhood and great staff. Shoutout to Kathy for being so awesome! We will definitely be living here another year."

"I applied to these apartments about a week ago. I have great credit and income and personal references. From the beginning Kathy was rude and determined to make things difficult for me (not wanting to accept scanned copies of applications or IDs because she doesn't understand how to use a computer or PDFs, etc.) She was not friendly during the tour, talks in a droning tine right over anything you'd have to say, and over-explains in a condescending manner. I worked pretty hard and quickly to make sure I applied early and with everything she needed (and preferred, like paper copies). Because two parties didn't respond to them fast enough to their liking, they went ahead and gave the apartment to somebody else anyways, before even follow up with any of us about the responses they weren't getting. The more I think about it the more I think this was a scheme to get our application money and waste our time. I am ultimately glad I dodged a bullet and feel a bit of discrimination for being queer -- but if I could advise you not to apply here, I absolutely would."

"My Girlfriend and I have been living here for almost a year and a half. We love it, and intend to stay here for the foreseeable future. The complex is clean and attractive, and the landscaping is beautiful. The units are a little dated, but they are also clean and comfortable. Their monthly rent is also marginally below the market rate, so it's as affordable as you can get in the area without sacrificing quality. Neighbors are friendly, staff is friendly, and the management/ownership is professional, responsive, and honest. We were lucky to find Chestnut Place, and I'd recommend it to anyone. We'll probably be here until we're homeowners. Pros: -Good management -Attractive complex with lots of outdoor space and attractive landscaping. -Close to Downtown Milwaukie, the MAX, parks and the high school. -Best price for the quality. -There are coyotes in the area (some people might think this is a con, but I think it's cool). Cons: -No pets (although service and companion animals are common)."

"Great Place to live. Had some issues with the Apartment when we first moved in, but they were handled quickly and when ever there is an issue it's dealt with fast. Management are friendly and always available."

"I have lived here at the Chestnut Place Apartments for over 11 years, and I love it. It went through some rough patches for a couple of years when they hired an outside management company to run it. That company did a lousy job, and many people considered moving, but it's now back in the hands of the owners, and I love the management. I will be moving out of the area in the near future, and I wish I could take my townhouse and the management with me. Gordon, part owner, is so conscientious and caring about his tenants and the beauty and upkeep of these apartments. When I need any maintenance work done, they're quick to respond and they make sure repairs are done in a timely and satisfactory manner."
