"Carter from the contracted emergency response crew was consistent, kind and listened to what we as residents were experiencing. His skills , diligence and willingness to recognize and respond was a saving grace in an emergency. He went above and beyond. We are very grateful. Thank you Carter!!!!"
"My family lived here for about three years and enjoyed the experience immensely. A beautiful space with great lighting and flooring, plentiful parking, and a safe place for the cats to roam outside. Having access to a private courtyard and a quiet neighborhood to walk around in was wonderful. Some issues with noisy plumbing, regular washer/dryer breakdowns, and pool closures but responses were always prompt. Management team was always polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend renting here."
"One of the best kept secrets in Portland. Historic but modern, this place was way ahead of its time! Water heated walls and floors, private courtyard, floor to ceiling windows and hot water that doesn't end! Its a community rather than just a place to live! If you have the chance, I fully recommend staying at the Binfords!"
"I only have 1 star because it required me too. The wonderful townhomes and courtyard offerings are offset by the landlords. Scott and Lauren Popma are the worst slumlords this side of New York. There are no washer or dryer in the units, so you have to use coin-op, which is fine but you can only use them between 9:30 AM and 9:30 PM. Not conducive to a safe, sanitary lifestyle. Their groundskeepers have stolen childrens' toys, bikes, and other tenants tools (yes, plural). They are willing to increase your rent by 25% every 6 months, claiming fair market value. You are also located next to a soundwall for I-84, which used to house homeless but us just now fenced with ugly cyclone fencing. The electricity is spotty, the plumbing worse, and if you have any sort of life event they treat you like a problem. Worst place I lived in ever. These people are basically Ebola."
"Beautiful location, hard wood floors, etc. The brothers that managed the buildings were really nice guys. They were responsive to all of our maintenance needs, friendly about painting, so nice to come in and talk to. However, the new manager is unkind in his demeanor and speech. He did not respond to a major issue with water running into our kitchen, did not let us grab a few things left in our house when we moved out, and charged us an extra day in rent when we were assuring our cleaning was superb when we left. This was difficult after two years of good experiences in a wonderful apartment. I'm very sad that the the new manager left us with a negative experience from a fantastic establishment. UPDATE: I was able to talk to the the original managers, they apologized, and said they are working with the new manager on niceties. It sounds like the brothers are not gone yet and will continue to validate the honor of the Binford Apartments. I'm so glad because it really is a great place to live."
