"I found this place on a whim, but consider it serendipity. Just after passing through the OR-CA border inspection station (heading south on the 101), I made an almost immediate right turn and came to a sort of fork in the road. I noticed the old Nautical restaurant to the left, but made my way instead towards the right. I almost missed the overgrown sign for Pelican State Beach, but passed it to follow the road a little further. Ever in search of the "perfect picnic table", I immediately noticed a small pullout to the left where a solitary picnic table sat. I did see some litter around so it could use some TLC, but the view was incredible and you feel as if you ought to be able to catch a whale or two if you just sit and stare long enough. I wished it was a sunny day and that I had a sack lunch because I would have treated myself instantly. Instead, in the light drizzle of rain, I promised myself I would return to do that very thing. "This Beach is a hidden treasure! It's quiet with a lot of life to sit on and watch the pelican dive for fish. We had about an hour to kill and it was easy to do here. The weather was perfect with the sun out and a slight breeze kept the temperature perfect. There was not a lot of parking and the trail was a bit narrow."
"If you want to be alone this is great. And also a great place to see the sun set on a nice evening"
"Great beach! Free parking and the kids loved it. Lots of wood to build and play with and the waves (at the time) were perfect size for me not to worry about the children."
"This is a good beach to visit, usually less people than the other beaches nearby."
