"So mu husband and I called last week and was told there was a unit available mid December and to call back this week I did and was told no one had talked to us. We have a 9 month old and I will be without a place December 1st. The foster home i am in right now has an expired license so would definitely not recommend this place the staff were highly rude."
"These are very small 1B and loft apartments. The high ceilings don't hide the lack of storage space or the fact that you'll be subjected to an invasion of privacy every 3 months, when the manager will tell you that you has too much personal property in your 1 small closet. The street noise is loud on the front side due to bus and car traffic, the back side is a bit quieter. During the excessive heat and smoke conditions, they turned off the A/C in the building, and cut the cords to the hallway units in the windows. Three people died during that time. The following winter, we had a heavy, cold snow and ice event, and the heat wasn't turned on for that event either. Maribel, the manager, watches tenants on the video cameras, and rents to her relatives, against HUD and Housing laws. She discriminates against LGBTQ renters, and will harass you if you know your rights. Last, and worst of all, this building was built on a Chinese work camp and part of the first Native mission. A lot of people died here, and the ground cries out for retribution, like many Salem historical sites. When it was the YWCA, it served as a homeless to home shelter, and some people brought in some dark magic, summoning up a dark force that prevails especially over the 4th floor. And that's where the deaf, blind and seriously handicapped people get put. It's also nearly impossible to get an electrical wheelchair out the elevator shaft on that floor. Last, but not least, if you rent a unit on the south end of the building you WILL experience bedbugs. There's a crack in the southern wall and they hide in there every time the apt.s get treated. No one has repaired the wall, so the bugs keep coming back. Do not let them make you pay for that cleaning. Best thing is to go over Maribels head and speak to her boss. Overall, these are places are dark, overpriced and the management is a constant pain. If you can't find anything else, get a 1 bedroom, because the bedrooms are 11' Γ 8' and with the high ceiling, it's palatial. But the noise of a motel A/C / Heater unit grinding on and off day and night really ruins any homelike atmosphere. Good luck and I wish you best of luck and a good knowledge of Oregon rental law if you choose to rent here. And bring some holy water."
"The ad is misleading. Inever lived there."
"If you have a toilet back-up, the manager will say it is your fault without even looking at the toilet or inspecting in any way. This legally is a tenant emergency but tenants are intimidated by the angry response from the management and feel threatened with eviction if they even ask for help. Prepare to cower with fear if you live here. Assertive tenants will be in for constant battles, which they will need legal help to win. There is legal help available but it takes time. Time for a class action suit, tenants!"
"Safe, good maintenance, lobby, elevator, stairwell, laundry facilities, friendly staff, adequate parking, smoke free building, good location to downtown, walking distance to parks, coffeeshop, restaurants, bus stops, & convenience stores, within walking distances to capitol building & state offices."
