South Block Apartments

"I have lived here over a year now. Making the decision to move to South Block has been the best decision. The property is kept clean and the courtyard is beautiful in all seasons. It is a very quiet place to live. I rarely hear any of my neighbors. The ladies in the the leasing office are the best. Always have smiles and ready to help. Maintenance guys are on-site and respond quickly to issues. Rent is on the expensive side but worth every penny."

"Overpriced and rent increases are absurd. The quality of the neighborhood has gone downhill and prices have gone up. It's unsafe and it's dirty. Frequent problems with the mentally ill on the property from the homeless community is out of control. I hear screaming and yelling regularly. The view is no longer desirable with how filthy the community is. It may be free entertainment to a point but not what I signed on for. I wanted peace and that's why I thought I was paying more but it's not peaceful here. My rent was reasonable when I moved in but it's definitely not now. I would recommend that anyone looking check out similar properties in the area and compare before committing. Edit: I would like to clarify that my 3 start review is based on it being overpriced. The building is nice, parking is great but you do pay for it. Not uncommon in a city. The on-site management and maintenance are wonderful. The few small issues I've had have been addressed and I have been treated with kindness and patience. I've had some financial setbacks last year and they were very kind and professional. If the rent were more reasonable i would give 4 stars. None of us can fix the homeless problem but unfortunately it does affect our neighborhoods. The view during the day when you can see some of the problems created by the homeless camp in the photo. Trash left all over. Our maintenance does a great job during working hours of keeping the grounds clean. They also have gone above and beyond during the ice storm to keep the place working and the pathways safe."

"Elevator broken for months. Garage flooding when it rains. Call box has never worked in my time here. Loud neighbors stomping above me at all hours of the day and night. This place seems really nice on the surface but moving here has been the worst housing decision I’ve ever made. Just counting down the months until my lease expires and I can get out. As a positive I’ll say the staff are generally friendly and maintenance is responsive."

"We had an issue with the clothes dryer in our unit. When Del our Maintenance Engineer, got our message he was right on it and had the repair done immediately. He also cleaned up all the dust behind out dryer when he was done. As always fast and efficient service from our maintenance department."

"After 8 months of no problems, I finally had a couple of maintenance issues come up recently. The whole team was awesome to deal with. From talking with the office to get the tickets open to coming home from work to find everything fixed. I especially want to thank Del and Jim who take great care of the property. I see them working hard every day. They respond quickly, they’re friendly and respectful; and most importantly, they fix stuff right the first time."
