"Our daughter loves going to school here. Amanthus does an excellent job of leading the children in learning through play. The classroom is constantly evolving and the school has an excellent outdoor space. As a parent-cooperative, we love that not only is our child offered a rich learning environment, but we as parents are also offered a community to be a part of."
"I've had two children enrolled at Multnomah Playschool. One was enrolled back in 2013 and then, when we had another surprise baby in 2020, we knew that we'd choose MPS for them too. Our older one (who has never been a fan of any organized school experiences) still thinks fondly of their time there. Our younger one (who started this fall) is so excited to go to school and can't wait to see what new things they'll encounter and get to play with each week. We chose this school twice and would keep choosing MPS, because of how the teacher(s) and curriculum center play (outdoor play everyday!) and use an anti-bias, anti-oppressive approach. The kids do so much social and emotional learning in a loving and dynamic environment that encourages bravery, emotional awareness, empathy and compassion. Many people feel daunted by co-ops because of the required parent involvement, but with reasonable enrollment, you aren't actually having to be in-class that much and the jobs and tasks required are also fairly spaced out over the year. I would say that it's been worth it. I so enjoy getting to watch my little one negotiate this new environment and be there with them as they learn who they are amongst a group of peers. It's rewarding and educational for me as well. I learned a lot about co-regulation, conflict resolution, and how to be present with my child's feelings during my first years at MPS and those lessons were transformational then and are still relevant with my burgeoning teenager and zesty toddler today. I would recommend the school and Teacher Amanthus to anyone. I think they still have openings available! Come visit!"
"We love MPS! Both of my children (5 years apart) attended Multnomah Playschool for their preschool and pre-k years. The school offers a warm, welcoming and engaging indoor space for children to explore, create and grow. The outside area includes a beautiful natural playground, mud kitchen, and lots of space to move. We found the short school days to be an ideal transition away from home for the first time. The play-based curriculum, combined with the head teacher's calm, supportive presence created a safe, nurturing, and fun environment to learn. We also loved being part of a co-op and having that built in community. Highly recommend Multnomah Playschool!"
"Two of my children have now attended Multnomah Playschool, and I truly can't imagine being part of any other community. The play-base curriculum and smaller class sizes made the experience for both of my children individualized and unique. I'm a mother of a neurodivergent child, but also happen to be an early childhood special educator in early intervention. I have been in many preschools across multnomah county, and I can say without a doubt that the head teacher and director who runs the school is like no other. With decades of experience, hands on training, and specific training and certifications in child development, our whole family learned so much from her and the school. Lastly, Multnomah Playschool, as a co-op, is more than a school. It is a plugged in supportive community. We love MPS!"
"This school's community is super supportive. Their anti-bias and play-base curriculum is amazing! We love this school."
