"Tonight was my first time ever here, and it was absolutely worth the price. The food was phenomenal, portions are truly vast, the hosts/servers are attentive but not overly so, and if you like loud, lively, convivial dine-in experiences, Choza is for you! Of course, I HIGHLY recommend you get a reservation first as it is always swamped, and lines to wait for a table to open up can be over an hour (we witnessed a few people who had opted to stand and wait for a full hour, in fact. I will admit that the prices are even a little steeper than expected, yet as usual for a Hispanic eatery, the portion sizes are more than worth their pricing in gold. When I say generous, I sincerely mean it. Be prepared to get a to-go box to take out your unfinished leftovers for a well deserved round two! The atmosphere is modernist, VERY boisterous, busy and lively, with loud chatter of conversations all around that echo throughout this rather tiny space. If you are not comfortable with or easily overstimulated/overwhelmed by large crowds, lots of people and tons of chatter, this definitely is not going to be a pleasant or comfortable experience for you. For how much that is, and for the modernist styling (I personally have never been a fan, though let's face it, who cares, you're there for the food), I tacked off a half a star for each to 4 for atmosphere."
"Overall the restaurant was perfectly decent. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was inviting. The meal was not memorable. After looking forward to eating Mexican food again after literal years, I found the chile verde to be just fine. I wasn’t wow’ed by the flavors and the color was a much deeper green than I’m used to seeing in chile verde so I assume this is a different recipe from what the chile verde I’ve had at other establishments in the past. It was fine and the presentation was lovely but it didn’t hit the spot like I had hoped."
"I couldn't be more pleased at trying Choza at Bridgeport Village. First, it's one of only two places I know of in the Portland area that make a margarita as I would expect it in Mexico. One sip of their house marg and I was in Bucerías. Second, their homemade tortillas and chips are delicious. The chips are thin, but they are substantial, and they go perfectly with the smooth blended house salsa of roasted chiles. (The chips were served warm.) Service on a bustling Sunday afternoon was quick and friendly, portions were large, and the decor is charming — someone put this restaurant together with a lot of pride, and it shows. Congratulations, Choza: I won't return to Bridgeport Village without stopping in!"
"This restaurant was OK. just a step away from a fast food restaurant. The staff were ok. They seemed uninterested in providing a friendly engaging customer service experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was more on the cold hard surfaces side than the warm and cozy side. The flan was unexpectedly served with strawberry syrup. This was odd. I am allergic to strawberries. They replaced this flan, without question, with one minus the death-berries."
"Didn't like the fact that there wasn't any alcohol in their drinks. Was very, very disappointed. Not only that, they don't have a blender to mix drinks? I was literally taking away by that? What restaurant honestly doesn't have a blender to mix alcohol drinks? Other than that, everything else was good."
