"We had a wonderful trip to New Orleans and so happy Jackson Square was a part of our journey all three days. Our 1st day we were on a ghost tour and walked through the square, it was gorgeous at night. Then the next day site seeing we went into the Cathedral and walked around the square to Decatur street. It is in a wonderful central location that we're able to do so many different things including a trip on the Mississippi."
"Jackson Square is in front of Saint Louis Cathedral and is named in honor of Andrew Jackson, the hero of the Battle of New Orleans. The American victory in 1814 ensured the City of New Orleans would remain in American hands. The statue in the park commemorates Jackson and is a highlight of the park."
"Andrew Jackson Equestrian Statue is located in the middle of Jackson Square on top of a granite base. It honors Andrew Jackson, the hero of the Battle of New Orleans and the seventh President of the United States. Sculptor Clark Mills erected the New Orleans replica in 1856. The statue showcases Andrew Jackson riding a horse where the horse is standing only on its rear two legs. which suggests that the rider’s achieving a title even higher than that of a general. A must-see for history buffs!"
