Reviews of Gallier House
"Docent Peter gives a flawless narrative and is quite knowledgeable, answering every question with authority and a sense of humor."
"This historical house truly offers a glimpse into how the wealthy used to live in New Orleans back in the day. The rooms are truly beautiful and ornately decorated I visited during October and the tour was centered around death and burial rituals. The guide was very knowledgeable and because our group was so small we really got to enjoy all of the rooms. Definitely worth a visit"
"Beautiful house. Felt like we were transported back in time. Tour guide was great, knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend for anyone that interested in the history of of French Quarter."
"We have always wanted to tour the Gallier House and finally took the time. That was a great choice as we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The house is beautiful and transports visitors to a past time. The tour guide is super knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions about the house or the period. A great view of upper middle class life."
"This is an incredible tour of an (restyled/restored) 1800's home. Every effort for authenticity has been made, including forthright, frank, and factual information about the slaves who served in this house. This is an excellent way to see the splendor and opulence of a famous architect's family from prewar and antebellum times. The tour guide, Susie (if I recall correctly) was highly knowledgeable and seemed very glad to share interesting facts and details with everyone on the tour. Everything was very polished and professional while still feeling personal. There's a small shop with local woman-owned business offerings. Be sure to visit the other museum as well. Save by buying both tickets in advance."
