"After seeing the less than stellar reviews I feel inclined to leave my own. I understand everyone’s experience is different but this clinic saved our puppy’s life. About a year ago our 4 month old puppy was suddenly losing muscle strength and falling down, bobbling his head and falling unconscious. I had just lost my job, it was 10 at night, and the only thing I could think to do was call them for advice and if needed bring him in for treatment. Whoever answered the phone was calm, understanding, and diagnosed him over the phone…..he was going into hypoglycemic shock. I administered the treatment at home after being instructed and was told that if it didn’t work to bring him in immediately. They didn’t charge me for anything AND saved his life. I truly believe they care for our pets and aren’t just in it for money in any way. I called them back that night and thanked them for saving my puppy’s life. Being an emergency vet has to be a tough thing to do and is even tougher on us and there is so much emotion involved, but I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my dog here if there’s ever another emergency."
"I picked my kitten up last night from this clinic on 3/2/2024. He had to have surgery Friday afternoon after swallowing a toy. He was taken here to be observed over night. He was well taken care of and they communicated well with us about how he was doing and when we could pick him up. He is home now, doing great, and nearly back to his kitten antics as we try to keep him calm lol. My problem is with the receptionist that was working when we picked him up around 3-4pm. He was dropped off in his personal carrier but he was given to us just himself. She handed a post-op kitten to us that still had staples, a cone on his head, wrap from his IV, and had several people and dogs in the waiting room also. He of course started to freak out as I looked at her and said "wheres his carrier?" She THEN was like "oh I can go get it" as if she wasn't going to give it back. I was holding him still by the scruff of his neck as my partner tried to get his legs and put him in it. She was very condescending and saying "hurry up guys, dogs are coming in the lobby" to us as we're trying to put him in. I don't know if this was her first day or something but please speak to her about not bringing a cat out on its own in any situation to it's owners. They aren't the same as dogs in these ways and will/do freak out a lot. They need to be in a carrier whenever they are being transported, dropped off, or picked up period. Luckily his staples and everything are okay. He's moving around just fine and eating and drinking. We were explained decently about his medications and calling his vet Monday to schedule to get his staples out but y'all need to know about whoever this receptionist is because she can't do that with cats. I don't know if she's new or she was overwhelmed but she can'tttt free hand a cat to someone to go home."
"I am writing this review to expose the fraudulent and unethical cremation service choices that Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic provided for my pet, Bonkers, who passed away before we could get her to the emergency vet. I have undeniable proof of their deception and breach of contract, which I have attached to this review. According to the original invoice, which clearly states "private cremation" and shows the amount I paid, I hired Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic to cremate only my pet in the chamber, and to return only my pet's ashes to me. This was my explicit request and agreement with them, as I wanted to honor my pet's dignity. However, I later discovered after talking with the cremation company, Pet Passages, separately, that Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic actually arranged for a semi-private cremation through them, which means that they were going to cremate my pet with other pets, with some form of separation between them. This is not what I agreed to or paid for. Luckily, I caught this in time before it was done. This means that Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic lied to me. They caused my family emotional distress and confusion, I had to pay extra for actual private cremation to get my pet's ashes back from the cremation company they way we wanted to make sure they were only just hers in there. I also wonder how many other pet owners they have deceived and harmed in this way. I have three witnesses and a phone recording of Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic assuring me that it was a private cremation, and not a communal one. They never mentioned semi-private cremation, which was what they actually submitted as to Pet Passages. They tried to change the story when I confronted them, but I have the evidence to prove them wrong. I called and the manager told me they wouldn't refund me the difference between the private and semi-private cremation fees. Brought up the fact that she was already dead when she was brought in (why?) When she explained how this happened, she said somethign to the effect of well, they dont really offer "truly" private cremation. Then don't tell people you do amd label it private. There is private, semi private and communal. The bill says private. She also mentioned that when she used to tell people it was semi private, they would get upset. This is not a good excuse to lie about what you offer. Different terminology isn't an excuse. There is clearly a misrepresenting of the services. I was told by the manager that they get so many dead pets that just how they do it. It's not acceptable. I would have agreed if I knew what semi private is at first but the family was so upset we paid the crematorium more up front. I hope that Lafayette Emergency Vet Clinic will face the consequences of their actions and learn to respect their clients and their pets. It doesn't matter if it's just ashes I get back. The truth needs to be told and people need to know what they are actually recieving. The cremation company Pet Passages, is excellent. They told us the truth and even offered to film the cremation, placing of remains into the urn, and also another option of actually personally viewing the cremation of our pet after we went through so much with this place."
"Late at night our cat passed before we could get her to this vet. Even though we were tired and sad the workers there were understanding and did their best to help us figure out what we needed to do next. The problem comes from how they label the cremation services they use. They told us about it and the two options provided. The cheaper one was where we wouldn’t get her ashes back and the more expensive one was where we would. They called the expensive one the private option. That’s the one we went with. We paid the rate for the service and we thought that was it. However we later found out that what they called private was actually the semi private option. The difference being that with the private one your pet is the only one in the oven where semi private is when multiple pets are in the oven. Sure they’re separated but that’s not what we thought we were getting. They didn’t charge us the private rate but still have it miss labeled on the bill. I feel like this isn’t something that one should be vague about at all time like this. And it’s not like it cost them too much to have all three options since the work is contracted out to a different company. Because of our situation I don’t know how good their other services are but to me saying that with all the deaths they have to deal with and that’s why they only offer those two options doesn’t justify the mislabeling. Please fix that billing code."
"Not once but twice, Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic saved my dog from himself when eating things he had no business eating. Both times the staff was above and beyond in compassion and support for me and treated my dog wonderfully. Considering the services they offer and their availability when you need it most, their pricing is extremely fair. It is such a nice peace of mind knowing that they are available during some of the most stressful and scary times as a pet owner. I recommend them to anyone and everyone finding themselves in the scary position of needing emergency vet care after hours or over the holidays."
