"The BEST local history museum. Interactive map table displays diverse historical layers and detailed walking tours. French Quarter history is exceptionally thorough and time efficient & brilliantly designed for visitors. Added bonus of extra gallery for themed displays. Every staff member was genuinely helpful. Do not miss this one!!"
"Such a thorough exhibition! Though the history is not pretty, The historic collection does not shy away from any of it. The collection is extremely well thought out and curated and covers pretty much every facet of New Orleans history. I left with such a clear identity of New Orleans and watched some Tennessee Williams adaptations which was the cherry on top. Would make this a required visit for anyone visiting New Orleans and it’s FREE!"
"Great free way to beat the heat! Right on Royal Ave, this unassuming building houses years of memorabilia from New Orleans history. Towards the end of the museum display is an immersive theater experience with a 360 video, taking you through the evolution of the city. Great break from all the eating and drinking!"
"The Historic New Orleans Collection is a wonderful collection of items from New Orleans. The building is an old home that had been fully restored. The permanent collection is all about the French Quarter and the musicians of the City. There are also wonderful displays that change. Currently this is on the history of Women’s voting rights but recently there was a great display on the history and fire at Notre Damme Cathedral in Paris."
"Very unusual things ranging from incredibly realistic stuffed animals to retro shirts and bags. A lot of really cool “old time” things. Very cool and fun and giving a modern touch to the Olsen historic days of the South. Definitely worth a visit, browse and buy. Not over priced and helpful staff"
