"He came up in a conversation the other day. This occurred 20 years ago, so maybe things have changed since then. My youngest son was having trouble with behavior and focusing in school. At 9 yrs, we took him to see Dr. Concepcion. It may have been on the second visit that he spoke to my son alone, then called me and my wife in to speak to us. First thing out of his mouth was (with a very serious look on his face), "You know, your son wishes he was dead. He told me this." We listened to what he had to say, then he prescribed medication, and we left. Now my son was surely angry with us when he was punished for receiving behavioral notices from school, but NEVER did we notice any behavior suggesting that he wished he was dead! On the way home, I couldn't help but ask my son why he would tell the doctor such a thing. The conversation was basically - Me: "Why would you tell the Dr. that you wished you were dead?" Son: "I don't know. Me: "Son, you realize that dead means that you are no longer alive, no longer breathing, and you're buried in the ground and gone forever?" Son: "NO, not that kind of DEAD! You know, like when you're sitting down trying to put your skates on, and you're pushing and pushing, but your feet won't go in. You throw your hands up and say, "I wish I was dead." My wife and I couldn't believe what we had just heard. Needless to say, we found another doctor."

"The doctor in reference is a psychiatrist. He's the greatest and I've had probably 8. He's the first I can say chose psychiatry for the right reason. He cares. His daughter will be joining his practice or maybe taking his case load and I expect she will rock at this as much as he does!! Great family he has at the office. Staff is very kind and careful with us."
