"Worst school possibly in Shreveport. We were promised all these things in our student handbook such as a range of dermalogica products and a makeup kit. That was never given and the owner Dee Shepard kept making excuses upon excuses on why we weren’t receiving what was supposed to be given to us in our tuition. The owner does not have humble in her vocabulary and will pretty much come to these “assemblies” claiming she wasn’t a scammer and how she won’t deal with people calling her that. Yet she is a scammer and claims she will not be refunding anyone any money…but also claims how she has so much money? Make it make sense. I was in the office with the financial adviser and her and another employee who has now been fired by Dee were talking about how she was going bankrupt and pulling from student funds. I would be very cautious about going to this school. Not to mention that the board adviser at Belbo was once a financial advisor at Pat Goins school at the time when they were pulling money from students before the imprisonment of the owner of that school. That seems pretty odd. It is like pulling teeth to get answers for anything. I have tested for board back on September 26th and called board this past Monday about my license and they said they had sent it a month ago yet the school plays dumb as if they don’t know what happened. This has happened to other students as well and I’ve heard their stories, no surprise they went through the same thing I’m going through. A student there now is at week 22 and has not received any reading material or their kits to start doing services and will be pushed back further most likely because of this. She has threatened to get a lawyer involved for this unjust behavior yet the owner claims that’s untrue. You will constantly be let down by not having products and have money ripped away from you with whatever scheme they are trying to pull. You will not get what’s promised in your tuition and somehow owe money by the end of it. The owner Dee Shepard will get a hold of your personal number and bully you anytime you disagree with something going on. Toxic place, toxic people -15/10 . I am now having to buy a duplicate license because of the negligence on the schools part. No makeup kit, no products save your money and go somewhere where someone will actually care about your education and not the money."
"I recommend if you want to make money and do clients buy you do NOT LEARN EVERYTHING SO DO NOT a think you have learned everything once you leave to start working you can do hair cuts and things like that but do not dye hair unless you have practiced and got approval from certain people tologist you know what I mean"
"The instructor has to actually do my hair. I see nothing wrong with the instructor's. But I still go there so I don't want to say the wrong thing!"
"This is the worst hair school the instructors are very rude and don’t teach you much of anything. Very strict and unprofessional. Like a job you not getting paid for. No fun at all. The only good thing is the free kits you get."
"I went back and forth with myself many times on whether this was necessary but after months of being a doormat I am learning that I am not the only one who’s mental health is taking a massive hit from this place. This establishment and the way it is being run is absolutely appalling. Sue Burch micromanages the students in a way that is completely counterproductive to their learning and growth in the industry. Very unprofessional, very money and power driven, and very much on the verge of collapse if changes are not made. I have been informed that the majority of the policies that have been so strictly enforced on myself and others are not even legal. The one good thing I can say is that I believe the barbaric environment brought us students closer together. I am so thankful for the relationships I have built here and am looking forward to what the future holds. I have high hopes that someone in this upcoming generation has the heart to open up a school with better values and priorities so that the Shreveport/bossier area will have better options to choose from- inevitably putting Guys Academy out of business. Because that’s really all it is, a poorly run business. Not a school."
