"Was a little skeptical about this place. But bruh, they gumbo was pretty good. Being from Louisiana, growing up in south Louisiana. It’s good comfort food."
"I got 2 of the shoppe combos the number 1(?) It's a small salad, crawfish pie, and your choice of pastalaya or jambalaya, a roll, and gumbo. My first time there, so I had some questions for the guy that took my order. He was great, customer service is a non issue. He answered the questions I had fairly well. The place is clean, it is like a fast casual spot so not very big but it is decent. The salad, should be kept separated from the hot food. It would have stayed crisp, portion could be a bit bigger but it was okay. The crawfish pie/pies, are small. Think dumpling sized. It came with 2 so I guess it averages out to 1. They seemed premade, like they were bought frozen from Walmart or something. Not bad tasing but not really good either. The roll is a roll. Like a grocery store roll you get assigned to bring to Thanksgiving when you can't cook. The jambalaya/pastalaya, I got one of each, honestly I should have asked if it was red or brown but i didn't, it is supposed to be brown i guess. Mine is gray. The rice, the meat, the pasta, all gray. My husband and I ended up picking the meat out of it. Idk what the base is but it is not good. The chicken and sausage was good but whatever the base is is not. I usually don't like brown jambalaya because it ends up tasting burnt, but this isn't that. I thought it was just me being partial to red, but hubby likes brown and he didn't even eat it. The gumbo is not gumbo. It seems they use the same base for the jambalaya and gumbo. It is loose like water and only had 3 cubes of chicken and 4 pieces of sausage. I got the 2 pudding desserts, they are just instant pudding with cookies on top. Nothing fancy. If they get their food to be as good as their service I could see this place being great, but I wouldn't go back until I knew the food had gotten better."
"This is now my go-to jambalaya shop when I'm in the mood. Ascension Parish style chicken and sausage, and a pork jambalaya I haven't tried yet. There are sides, and to be honest, the potato salad is mediocre. The jambalaya makes up for it, believe me. Not really an atmosphere, as such. Not really a hang-out spot. Again, don't care, I'm there for the food."
"I ordered Tuesday's special which was pork roast with rice and gravy and there were literally two sample sized pieces of meat on my plate. It was more like a rice and gravy plate with 2 sides. Literally no meat as you can see. I am not sure if this is the normal portion size or if they ran out of meat and just didn't mind to ask me if I wanted something else instead . Their food is normally good."
"It was my first time ever in the State of Louisiana. The store was clean and the employees were friendly and very attentive. They gave us some samples before we place an order. It was my first time trying Jambalaya and it was Delicious!!!!!"
