Scriber Lake Park
About the Business
Scriber Lake Park, located at 5601 198th Street Southwest in Lynnwood, Washington, is a beautiful natural area with a rich history. Originally homesteaded by Alderwood Manor pioneer Paul Schreiber in 1890, the lake on the property eventually became known as "Scriber" Lake. The park includes 22 acres of land, with a floating boardwalk made of environmentally friendly materials that offers stunning views of the lake. Visitors can relax on artist Michele Van Slyke's welded steel benches and stools while taking in the peaceful surroundings.
In the past, there was a resort at the west end of the lake, built by the Barklay family, which included a dance hall, rental cabins, and a swimming pool. Unfortunately, the lake's size was reduced and water quality compromised when 196th Street SW was widened in 1966. However, the City of Lynnwood purchased the land in 1982 to protect it as a community park.
Thanks to partnerships with the Lynnwood Parks & Recreation Foundation and EarthCorps, Scriber Lake Park continues to undergo improvements and volunteer projects. Future plans include trail renovations and additional park enhancements. Visitors are encouraged to explore the park, learn about its history, and enjoy the tranquil views of Scriber Lake.

"Nice walking path. Some parts are muddy, so wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Also, I suggest bringing hand sanitizer for the bathroom since there was no soap. Enjoyable neighborhood park."
"The park is somewhat small but lovely. I have been walking around and spotted a blue heron perched on the bank. It was so beautiful to see. I didn't expect to see that in Lynnwood. There's other cool trails and in the summer time you can pick blackberries!!! I like this park for the nature walks and wildlife."
"Hadn't been here since the late 80's early 90's. It was a nice day but there were areas of trail that were very mushy . You could easily lose a shoe if you step in the wrong spot. Place was clean and obviously the docks and other areas of park have been upgraded over the years."
"Beautiful spacious park with a few windy trails and a beautiful little lake you can walk around. Great photo op too! The bridge can get over run with water at times making it hard or downright impossible to cross at times. So beware of that. The trails get really hard to walk on when it rains or right after the path is very wet muddy I'm talking your whole foot sinking into the mud kind of soggy... Also, there's live animals you'll come across from time to time. I've only seen geese on the trail before but I'm sure there's other wildlife. Nothing crazy like bears or anything though! They've got restrooms that are open at weird hours but they're sometimes available. Bring your own soap fyi...the bathroom only has cold water no paper towels or soap ...."
"Delightful little park! A smaller parking lot, but plenty of nearby street parking (we didn't have trouble with a spot). A few picnic tables and decent restrooms. The walking trail loop was nicely maintained, but the floating walkway on the lake had standing water on both entrances. Aside from a few bugs, the wildlife was great: baby ducks, squirrels, rabbits, and beautiful birds. Great for a quick nature getaway from the city."
