"This park has so much potential. But is in a rather sad state. The whole park lies beneath the branches of a Douglas Fir Forest with some Red Alders and Pacific Madrones mixed in. The forest floor is covered in Huckleberries, Oregon Grape, and Sword Fern. There is a small shoreline along Dogfish Bay with an interpretive sign about wintering birds, another cautioning about toxic clams further down the line, and one more showing a map of the Kitsap water trails. A single quarter mile (at best) paved trail loops through the forested section of the park, and dirt paths connect the shoreline and picnic area. There are two parking areas. One right across from the Naval Base Kitsap Entrance, and the other on the backside near some private residences, the first option is definitely the least sketchy of the two. There is a single medium trash receptical in the park and a station for doggy bags. There used to be a playground here years ago, but all that remains is an empty mulch base enclosure with two benches looking into the vacant play area. The park did not have a whole lot of trash when I visited on 12/30/23 but I know it's been an issue in the past. Use the trash can provided and If it's full, pack it out people! The paved path is cracked and sorta overgrown in places, and vegetation is encroaching on the benches and picnic tables as well. This park definitely needs some love. I understand the Keyport Improvement club has been in charge of maintaining it with blessings from the county parks department for years, but apparently they need to step it up. This park would be greatly improved by a day of cutting brush and picking up trash. And it could be easily upkept with maybe 3 volunteers taking out the trash daily, restocking doggy bags, checking for vandalism, and maintaining the pathways and signage. I would absolutely volunteer for this myself but I no longer live in the area full time. I do love this little piece of Keyport's history. It's a nice little slice of what Kitsap's woodlands may have been like a century ago. And gives a little place off the beaten path to have a stroll, launch a kayak, or eat a picnic lunch and watch birds. I hope to visit it again to see how it looks again in the future."
"Love this little place. Cute, quaint, several seating areas.. plenty of nice sights and sounds. Never busy! Perfect place to wind down and watch the sunset!"
"It's nice a quiet. A great inlet to kayak in."
"Very small waterfront park with an extremely short trail. Neat to walk on waterbed at low tide.... peaceful, pretty much feels like you have the little area to yourself to just chill and watch the water/and water fowl."
"Very small park. There are a few benches. It's not well maintained. Easy to cycle through with a mountain bike. It is usually quiet and peaceful. I suppose you could eat lunch at one of the benches. There is only room for a few cars."
