"Five surgeries to remove and prevent regrowth of the sides of my toe nails ALL FAILED to kill the nail bed and prevent regrowth! I went in because my great toe nails are deeply set on the sides and I get frequent infections. Dr Sherris agreed to remove a small portion of each side of both my great toe nails and permanently kill the nail bed do they wouldn’t regrow. The four surgeries were performed the same day. After the surgery, I went home and after the anesthesia wore off, I was in a lot of pain. I couldn’t sleep the first night due to pain. The next day I called the office asking for pain relief and was told they would NOT prescribe any pain killers and that I should take ibuprofen. I was already taking 800 mg ibuprofen and was still in significant pain. So I was forced to dig thru my bathroom cabinets until I could find some “10 years expired” codeine from a past procedure so I could sleep the next night. About 2 months later, I could see that one side of one nail was growing back full width as it was wider at the base than the portion removed. I went back in and Dr Sherris preformed a repeat surgery to again remove and destroy the nail bed so it wouldn’t grow back. Again I was in pain but I knew they wouldn’t help so I didn’t ask this time. Now several months later, all 4 nail sides are growing in at full width! Of 5 different surgeries, EVERY ONE FAILED. This procedure is estimated to have a success rate around 90%. Dr Sherris’ procedures had a 0% success rate, cost me several hundred dollars, significant pain (which they refused to help) and weeks of soaking/bandaging my toes. I initially really liked the doctor, office manager and location but now I’m dealing with 4 ingrown nails with infections on and off because the nails are growing back wider at the base than the rest of the nail. The whole experience was negative for me!"
