"The room was filthy and stained. The chairs were broken, the smoke detector was on the tv stand, and there were cockroaches in the room and bathtub. There were countless homeless people hanging around the property. The soda vending machine took my money but didn’t give me my soda."
"It's a Hotel room, clean, entrance through lobby only. And who doesn't want to stay at the Unicorn...."
"The smell at this place is horrid... Truly it feels like a health hazard, I don't even know how to describe the putrid aroma permeating this place. It feels unsafe. There are questionable mystery stains all over the room, on the walls, on the floor, etc... The location is also terrible, one of the worst areas in Portland, does not feel safe at all. I could only recommend staying here if you're quite adventurous, or if you are absolutely desperate for a cheap place to stay. The deposit is low, so that's a plus. One saving grace of this place is that the front desk staff were not bad at all, the gentleman who works at night was helpful and so was the woman working during the day. The check in process was relatively quick. The hotel also has an interesting history. All in all, I would not recommend this place for most people; but if you don't mind the rough neighborhood or dirty rooms, then this might be the place for you."
"At first glance this looks like a shabby little hole in the wall motel but the desk people were so friendly and accommodating. I was quite surprised and wound up extending my stay. I would deffinately go back again and they will also accept cash payments which many motels will not anymore. This one did not require a credit/debit card for the room or the deposit and proved to be exceptional on security as well. Requiring everyone staying or visiting to provide ID and checking in at the front desk upon entrance."
"The room was clean, had decent basic furniture (including a great dresser and desk) and lamps. They have good WIFI and cable TV. The AC and heater were great. The room also had a good shower and bath tub and the bed was comfortable. They have a great mini fridge with a large freezer and new microwave. Both looked new. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The rate was very affordable as well. Their weekly rate was amazing. I felt safe in the building, as they have very good security systems. The neighborhood is a little rough but not dangerous really. My only complaint is that they don't provide shampoo and you have to change your own bedding and vacuum your own room. There isn't any room service. Good place to stay if you need a hotel and are in a jam like I was, or want somewhere to stay if you're out of town that is affordable and decent."
