"Visited here yesterday and it’s now one of my top favorite local history museums. The historical society has packed so much into such a tiny building! All my questions about the old swing bridge were answered, but the museum isn’t only for the bridge anymore; it’s really for Sunset Beach overall. And although Sunset Beach has only existed as such since the late 1950s, you can learn about naval operations nearby during WWII and the construction of the Intracoastal Waterway (which the old bridge used to cross) and about American Indian artifacts recently found in this area. The volunteers who run the museum are really friendly and knowledgeable—thank you, Ron and Doris!"
"Great little museum for people that remember the old bridge. If you grew up going to a Sunset Beach, you absolutely have to check out the small museum. It doesn’t seem like much and it’s not big, but it definitely brought back a ton of memories for me from when I was a kid. They altos also sell merchandise at this location so definitely buy some and health support them."
"Worth the stop when they are open to absorb some interesting history of Sunset Beach and the old bridge. Volunteers do a great job, very knowledgeable and friendly."
"So glad the Old Bridge has become a museum and was not destroyed. This meant alot to me as well as others. Seen and traveled this bridge for many many years. The associates there are very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. If you haven't visited the "Old Bridge", take a few minutes to stop by and look at the history and preservation. There is also a gift shop in the lower level."
"This is such a great historic trip for me! The tour guide was sooo good at teaching us the history of sunset beach! Such a rich history we are looking at in the museum. I definitely recommend taking your kids to go check out this place and learn from it’s history!"
