Ace Hotel Portland

"Unfortunately was really let down by our stay here. The limited pros are: it’s a decent location, it’s next to a Stumptown, and we were able to check in to our room early. Unfortunately, the cons list is much longer. Our room in particular was pretty terrible. The whole room was painted black and white for some reason, which made it feel rather depressing and dark. Even the desk was painted completely black…. The sink is outside the bathroom in the living room which was strange and not hygienic. The bathroom had a sliding barn door which didn’t even cover the entire doorway to the bathroom, which led to very little privacy. There was hardly any room between the bed and the wall which made it hard to get into, and there was no bedside table, lamp, or outlet on that side of the bed which was inconvenient. The bed and pillows themselves were also rough and very uncomfortable. Additionally, the fire alarm went off briefly multiple times overnight, but there was never any communication or explanation from the hotel staff about what was going on, no follow-up communication about it the next morning. Overall a total bummer. Couldn’t recommend anyone staying here as it’s not even particularly cheap or affordable to make up for all of the above."

"This is our second visit, and we love staying here. The vibe is hip, the location is excellent, it's very clean, and the rooms are fantastic. We booked the Superior Deluxe Corner, and we were not let down. The only thing worth noting is if you want the claw foot tub, you need to request it."

"I love coming here and was surprised to see a nice note written welcoming me back. I’ve only been here twice now but they’re already treating me like a regular which is very sweet. Got in at midnight and chatted with the attendant for a while. She gave me a bunch of vegan restaurant recommendations and said she’d have more every night I chat with her. A little delightful hipster drip marketing I think. :P Genuinely love everything about this place. Especially the thousands of love notes lovingly kept in the card catalogue on the second floor. Some of them make me happy, some make me cry, and some make me so happy I cry. What a beautiful art exhibit in a totally unexpected location. I’ll never understand why people pay more for the Marriott."

"I haven't stayed there yet. My friend is staying there and I wanted to send her something to her room before she arrived. The staff was great helping me arrange a little surprise. They even left a note for her from me. Very good people. The rooms are amazing. They have vinyl and record players in the room. Claw footed bathtubs. The artwork everywhere. I will stay there when I am in the area."
