About the Business
Yataimura Maru is a Japanese Izakaya located in SE Portland, Oregon. Our restaurant is dedicated to serving authentic Japanese cuisine made from scratch, including house-made ramen noodles, simmered stocks and broths, and sashimi sliced from whole fish. We offer a variety of beverages including beer, wine, sake, and cocktails to complement our delicious food. We are currently open on Sunday from 2pm to 9pm, and Monday - Tuesday from 4pm to 9pm, with plans to expand our operating hours soon. Check our Facebook page for updates. "I had not eaten sushi in a while and was excited to eat here. Only open twice a week, my friend and I were intrigued about this restaurant. The wait staff was pleasant. I ordered the unagi, gyoza, my friend had a ramen. The ramen looked good. My homie left stuffed. But, my sushi roll didn't stay together which made eating what ordered uneventful. If I am in the area again, I could see going there again if a the group i was with wanted to go there, but idk."
"Tasty food and good service. There was a hiccup with our giftcard mag strip, which they were not going to accept, but I looked the card value up on line for proof of value, and all went well. Thanks to Manager Yuki!"
"Not surprised to see they fired their entire staff without warning since I worked at the downtown location in 2016 and certainly didn’t have the best experience. Either way though this place used to be delicious. Post-pandemic they lost all the grilled skewers and replaced the house made beef bo-gyoza with generic frozen gyoza. Now they’ve gotten rid of the chicken paitan ramen and it seems like their house made noodles as well. Even the egg is just a regular hard boiled egg now. The frenchy roll is still really good but it’s not enough to get me to come back."
"My family who lives in town swore by this place but they hadn’t been in years. We went tonight and it’s just not worth the trip. The salmon didn’t taste or smell fresh. They have a really small sushi menu. They got one of the rolls wrong on the protein and the server wasn’t attentive. There was a very sweet older lady who greeted us so for her warm welcome I’m giving 3 instead of 2 stars."
"Our favorite thing here was the cold noodles. Definitely the most delicious thing we had. Everything else was pretty much average. Nice staff and atmosphere. Would probably go again if I was in the area to try other things and see if it could get the rating higher for me. But probably wouldn't seek it out on my own."
