"I rented a lift from here, you rent them through compact power tools. The problem is you can not get ahold of anyone to ever talk about anything including when the lift needs servicing. You call the store they transfer you, you call the number they transfer you and you end up in this loop. Unfortunately in the world today you can seam to never talk to anyone who can do anything... In the end I did get my money back because the lift was broken, but that did not solve the fact that I needed a lift and they brushed it off for a week until they finally said your right it is broken I will just come get it."
"Rented a tow behind boom lift for 24hrs. The equipment worked great for trimming trees! Definitely make sure to have power available as it is electric. The staff was awesome and very knowledgeable!! Both renting and returning! Highly recommend, best experience I've had renting equipment."
"I rented a 6in wood chipper from Home Depot it is $200 for 4 hours or $269 for all day. I got the cheaper around 10 in the morning rented it for the whole day. Got the chipper to my property and guess what was not working called Home Depot they had someone come and fix it for me it took them to 2 p.m. just to show up. By 3:00 pm got fixed. I try to run it was still not working properly. By around 5:30 I brought it back to Home Depot. I told them about the problem they said they will take care of me. Home Depot in the end charged me $200 minimum for 4 hours which is very unfair not only I didn't do the job I supposed to but wasted my whole day. Bad Business by Home Depot very bad business that's my last time doing business with Home Depot."
"Before talking to Ian, I would have definitely given this a 2 star rating. We are installing oak hardwood flooring, and needed the tools to start the sanding process. We were given poor quality sandpaper, the wrong grit, and the wrong type of sander for what we were doing; all recommended by the employees working there. After 2 days of rental, many back and forth trips to Home Depot, about $300 in equipment, and little to no progress made... I was feel extremely frustrated. We went to return the tool, and explained everything to Ian. Not only did he answer all of my questions and make me feel at ease about the next step we needed to take for our type of flooring, but refunded all the unused sandpaper, screens, etc., as well as most of what I had paid for two days of rental. Home Depot- you have one kick ass employee in your tool rental department. He is the only reason I will continue coming there for my home improvement needs. Thank you so much!!!"
"Big box hardware chain has most of the large items you'll need. Can't compete on the boutique hardware scale with the likes of the excellent ParkRose. Some staff have deep knowledge, others are temporary hires (or similar) who have very base to no knowledge of the intricacies of some projects that face homeowners or contractors. When choosing to shop big-box-hardware retail it is best to know in advance what you may need, what the potential pitfalls might present themselves and how to fabricate your own workarounds. The stores will not offer you consistency of care across the trades like a neighborhood hardware store might. Discounts are available daily for credentialed veterans and Home Depot credit card holders. Sales offer some very good deals and staff is sometimes allowed to make discounts. Always ask. Be prepared to hear about upsell extended warranties and similar programs on some products. Seasonal items are mass produced but sometimes interesting and will appeal to a broad section of the typical Home Depot consumer. Overall, this Vancouver store is a bit on the smaller side as Home Depot's go. If you don't find it on the shelf staff will often direct you to the website. Sometimes they will offer to order for you online for store delivery. Tool rental is fairly straightforward. They do offer price sheets for the items in their rental inventory. Be sure to ask how things work, run, need to be maintained during your rental. So that you can avoid surprises on your job site or, worse when you return the item so that it is in good shape. They will check it out. You don't need to pay full price for an item you could've cared for while you had it on hire. Once you master the intricacies of the limited in and out of the parking lot this Home Depot could become a favorite for you. That is, of course, unless you choose to drive across to Oregon in order to cheat your Washington neighbors out about meager amount of sales tax."
